Vulture is reporting that Caig Gillespie (Lars And The Real Girl) is the newest dirctor to be taking the helm of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. This news of a new director comes after Mike White (Year Of The Dog) dropped the project a few weeks back.

Mike White of course was not the only director to drop out of film. Director David O. Russel (The Fighter) had also abandoned ship and they say that the script he left behind was so good it is the only thing keeping te project going.

Gillespie is currently working on the remake of Fright Night which will be hitting theaters in August. The adaption of Grahame-Smith's other book Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is currently filming and hits theaters June 22nd, 2012. It stars Ben Walker with Timur Bekmambetov directing.

If your unfamiliar with Pride & Prejudice & Zombies here is a synopsis for the book by Seth Grahame-Smith & Jane Austen courtesy of AMAZON:

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.” So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy.

What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead. Can she vanquish the spawn of Satan? And overcome the social prejudices of the class-conscious landed gentry?”

Does that make 4 directors now, who've all bailed on the project? How long before McG's name gets thrown into the mix.

Hated Jane Austen at school(I'm British so I was forced to study two of her novels). She's the kind of writer that takes a chapter to say what most would say in a paragraph. My god I hate that bitch!lol
So the idea of watching her characters get brutally munched on by zombies really does it for me! :D
Can't wait!
