J. Jonah Jameson: The Mission to Replace Perfection

The one question people should be asking about the Spider-Man reboot.

When news broke of the Spider-Man reboot, fans scrambled to get their casting picks together. Rumors of who would play Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy sparked, overshadowing the real burning question: Who will be J. Jonah Jameson?

Casting Peter Parker or any of his classmates is easy enough. There is an endless parade of young actors that could do it. Actors that are raised in Hollywood studios, being trained for celebrity from birth.
I mean, I don't know this for sure, but it's how I imagine Kirsten Dunst started out.

Personally, I could not think of a better J. Jonah Jameson than J.K. Simmons. He is the quint essential example of perfect casting! I have not heard one complaint about his portrayal and fans can find almost anything to bitch about regarding their favorite comic book icons being wrongfully cast or wrongfully played.

I can't wait to see who they come up with for the reboot, and in the meantime, I'll be sitting in my tower, judging, scrutinizing and being a jerk.

I am going to miss watching Ted Raimi get bullied at The Bugle though. Those were classic!

Do they really have to find someone else for the role? The guy nailed it. McGinley could be it, but I don't see why they would consider going away from Simmons even in a reboot.

I'm not familiar with the Ultimate Spiderman. Is JJJ part of that story line? Spidey is in Highschool right?

If anybody ever plays Scattergories, I've won like a hundred times with JJJameson in the comicbook character category. Triple the points! Boom shakalakah!

gotta say, i couldn't think of anyone who could possibly replace JK Simmons as JJ, but when I saw that pic souleater put up, I immediately thought of ray wise:

gotta say, give him a toothbrush mustache and he's got the look. not sure if his voice is too smooth for it, but hey, he was a fantastic actor on Reaper.

I don't see why he couldn't come back unless it might be a little weird seeing him with all the other actors.

Agreed that J.K was easily among the best castings in ANY CBM...there is a perfect translation of JJ...there is really no reason he can't remain and realistically there should be no other choice...

I was just thinking about this. While watching Spider-Man, I know there is no way to stop the machine but I'm still not happy with the reboot. J.K Simmons did an amazing job and quite frankly I though the rest of the cast was did pretty good. Granted, they were not perfect like J.K but they were good non the less. There are things about the Spider-Man films I didn't like, especially in the third film but I don't think a reboot is necessary. It doesn't matter, I know it is happening they should make the fans happy though and at least keep J.K!!
