UPDATES FROM THE LOS ANGELES SET

SHH's RED SKULL - stuff like papers and debris blew through the air and they had a fan on but I did not see snow...and seeing as how they got GPD in the shot, then I don't think so.

Basically the shot was Modine (we think it was him) and JGL sitting in a squad car looking up at the Batwing as it goes by as the cops train their guns on it

Gordon levitt and a blonde haired man in a brown overcoat are in a cop car as the swat have guns poised on the batwing as it flies over

Theyre swinging the batwing out on cables. About to do shots of it

The batpod sputters to a halt and he gets off and they follow. No snow in this scene

SHH's JL UNLIMITED
Went to watch filming today. There were a bunch of Gotham police cars and swat trucks a few blocks from where they were filming. A few people stopped to take a pictures of the vehicles, myself included. Haha. When I got there, I guess they weren't using the Gotham police officer extras at the moment so a bunch of them (I'd say 50 or so) were scattered all over hanging around looking bored. I caught some laying on a steps of a office building a few blocks from the filming site and one of them was even smoking a cigar. Haha.

The main filming area had Gotham police cars and swat tracks in the middle of the street. I was a little saddened because the PAs kept pushing us further away and I wasn't expecting to see much but then they started flying the Batwing on cables! If flew in between buildings and elevated higher as it flew at a fast pace over the Gotham police cars and swat trucks scattered in the street. It really does look massive even from where I was standing which wasn't close at all.

What I thought was a bit funny was that they wouldn't let anyone walk through the street where they were filming but you could see a lot of clubbers walking out from that area. I guess there was a club nearby where they were filming? Some of them looked tossed, including one guy who tried to pick a fight with one of the Gotham police officer extras and got pushed away by security and one girl who was completely hammered and looked like she was about to throw up as her bf was helping her walk.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Garly Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

I know where Christopher nolan git his idea for BANE's mask. he ripped it off from batman arkham city's convict design where some of them would wear a breathing mask.

@FriendlyJoShFest
You probably wont get as much hate as you will get questioned on why you are bothered by the idea of the prop "batwing" being filmed hanging on cables (which will be removed in post).

Did you want them to make an actual working version with harrier jump-jet hover engine tech?

@THEDARKKNlGHT1939

The equivilent trailer for TDK didnt come out until December and considering the release dates almost completely machine, id assume it will be a similar time for a full TDKR trailer.

I don't know, at this point, every bit of unofficial video and picture that probably will or may even not spoil a scene or even depict a scene in the film....
those are the trolls.

Everyone who says they won't see this will, the movie has already had it's predecessor to market for it, and while I fully realize the studio is not at all responsible for these pics and vids being posted on the internet, they don't seem to be doing much to control it.

I want to see the movie, but every time I see something of the equivalent to "behind the scenes" footage, I get less and less enthused. It is, of course, my choice to see them or not, but I don't feel I should have that option.

Well then people can use their discretion. There must be other ways to get attention.

the more I look at that batwing, the more I am thinking that it is converted from the tumbler...sort of like the batpod did in TDK.

Did nobody notice that JGL was wearing the old Batsuit in pics so we really are gonna have TWO Batmen in the film and one while other recovers or to throw people off the scent of Bruce!! Levitt to become Nightwing or inherit the role??? Batwing will rock once fully seen on screen, chases look cool!

Man I look so forward to this film! I always look for to Batman more than any superhero film. I look forward to 1) The Dark Knight Rises & 2) The Avengers.

@Braveheart when one was JGL in the old Batsuit? I want to see that sounds very interesting!

BenjaminTriforce

This must be the conclusion to the opening sequence we've seen filmed over the last couple weeks. TDKR picks up right where TDK left off. A million cops chase down Batman on the batpod who they suspect killed Harvey Dent. They eventually corner him, and he escapes in the Batwing. Wally Pfister said the opening sequence was gonna be epic, and this is the definition of epic.

I bet this will also be our introduction to JGL's character as well.

Also, the guys talking in the 2nd video are hilarious

Thank GOD he's not doing that in CGI! That will look pretty badass. I hope they take the same approach with the new Superman movie and the flying sequences. Gotta get the real Supes up on some wires, over the real city streets. There's just no substitute.
Greengo
Greengo - 10/9/2011, 10:59 PM
@G: that won't happen in MoS

loganoneil - 10/10/2011, 10:15 AM
Um, if I may - who's to say this is the COMPLETE 'Batwing' we're seeing here? Who's to say that the rest of the body won't be added in (via CGI) in post-production? How about waiting until the film comes out, seeing the 'finished product' and THEN commenting on it?
