Ralph Fiennes Hints at Blofeld Role & First Pics of Judi Dench on Skyfall Set

When you think of bald villain that pets a cat you probably think of Dr. Evil, but he is merely a spoof of Bond's arch-nemesis, Ernst Stavros Blofeld.

Ernst Stavro Blofeld is one the all time greatest villains in cinema. He has appeared in seven Bond films, and played by six different actors. To be fair in the first couple movies only his hands were shown. He has been parodied in Austin Powers with Dr. Evil and Inspector Gadget with Dr. Claw, just to name a few. His usually schemes are to kill James Bond, world domination, and to ask for hefty ransoms. The last appearance by the character was in For Your Eyes Only, and based on hints by the writer and Fiennes I think we have a very good shot at seeing him again.

Now clean-shaven once again, Fiennes refused to say whether his work later this month on the upcoming Bond film “Skyfall” will require any further distract ‘do measures, but when the Playlist asked about rumors whether he’d play famous Bond villain Ernst Stavros Blofeld in the film, Fiennes played coy. “I can’t say anything more,” he said with a grin, having already discussed with The Playlist about how screenwriter John Logan (who wrote “Coriolanus”) was partly responsible for Fiennes appearing in the new ‘Bond’ film because “because he wrote this really interesting part which is really quite fun.”

When we asked him directly if he would be playing Blofeld he laughed once more. “I can’t say anything,” he said, but then did allow this: “I will not be stroking a white pussy!” Is that a straight-up denial or perhaps a coy response to how his character would be different from the antagonist who appeared in the Bond films, “Thunderball,” “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” and “You Only Live Twice”? We’ll leave that up to you to decide.

wow..Dame Judi looks so OOOOOOOLLLLLD....

Well, if not the new Prof. X, then Blofeld would be the next best bald role for Fiennes to play. i'd rather see Mike Myers do it though..lol

if Fiennes does end up playing Blofeld, he'll be set up financially for the next decade, at least, i guess. i mean, first it was Voldemort and now THIS! he's the go-to villain guy.

as much as i loved casino royale - what i've heard of this movie makes it seem like it'll be even better which is ridiculously awesome - fiennes would make a great blofeld

I'm gonna have to be the fanboy who points out that Blofeld made his first appearance in From Russia With Love, complete with the cat who he feeds a betta fish to.

Ralph Fiennes is brilliant. I wonder if he gets tired of playing villains. I don't think he'll be playing Blofeld, though. Maybe an updated version of this character, but not him.

Even if his not Blofeld i hope he is still a villain in the movie. :)
Fiennes and Bardem would make a great villain duo.
Fiennes as the mastermind and Bardem as the executor.

please kill off Grandma M in this movie and replace her with a man. She should have been recast in Casino Royale. I hate to sound sexist but I prefer Bernard Lee to a white haired ball buster/mother character.

Bernard Lee died before I was born....

To me, M will be Judi Dench until she retires.

Fiennes as a modern Blofeld and Bardem as a modern Largo. That's the way I see it.

Man, if he is he'll have played the 2 main villains of the 2 most successful movie franchises ever (I think HP is no. 1 and Bond is 2, anyway), both of which are based on british books :P

Ralph Fiennes as Blofeld will be the best casting since Sean Connery as Bond himself. (No offense to Donald Pleasence.)

I hope this is true. The way he said that it comes off more as a coy response. The direction this movie is heading in could make this the best Bond movie to date.

Bring on 'SPECTRE'- Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion.
The 'terrorism' aspect can translate well in this present world environment. Give the movie an 'edge' of real world relevance.

Well if he is, Blofeld will more than likely be the head of Quantum. I doubt SPECTRE will make an appearance in the rebooted franchise.
