Bruce Campbell Cut from Sam Raimi's OZ: The Great and Powerful

The star of the Evil Dead series, who has also made cameos in all three of Raimi's Spider-Man films, tweets that his scene for OZ won't make the final cut.

The actor tweeted in August, "I. Am. In. Oz. Sam refuses to tell me what character I will portray. Just know that the role is pivotal." Well I guess the role isn't pivotal at all, or it never was. There is a good shot that Bruce was just being sarcastic at the time, but either way he won't be making an appearance in the film and that's a shame. If you still want to get your Bruce Campbell fix you can watch him on the USA Network's popular cable TV series Burn Notice, in which he plays Sam Axe.

Official Synopsis - Walt Disney Pictures' fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot--fame and fortune are his for the taking--that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity--and even a bit of wizardry--Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

The film will be released in theaters March 8, 2013.

I agree. Bruce Campbell is the man! By far the most underrated actor in Hollywood. Shame to see he won't be making an appearance in this.

Cant be upset about this, despite amusing cameos in SM I dont like him at all. I am looking forward to Oz though, although I find it hard to imagine a director famous for Horrors and superheroes making an Oz film.

Plus franco's in it and he's always awesome

HE should have been cast as the guy who meets Dorothy at the gate to the Emerald City. One of the most quotable actors ever.

He's great in everything, even his small role in Cars 2.

Did anyone ever see his TV show "Jack Of All Trades"? It was funny.

Jack Of All Trades is apparently coming out on DVD in January. The Chin had a cameo in Quick And The Dead that was also cut out,so this is not the first time. Besides,we all know he is the reason Burn Notice is pulling in the ratings,so he's not exactly starving. And after reading his books,he seems to prefer it that way. In a way, I think not getting the Phantom role was a blessing in disguise....

Tru story:

My friends cousin had there wedding in Miami this year...heard a story that the groom went outside for a cig and saw none other than Mr Bruce Campbell himself....

Bruce saw the wedding and walked over and asked if he could sign the visitors book...he left an awesome message which I have seen along with pics...

Bruce Campbell is a fooking LEG-END!!! so anyone who disses him should shoot themselves in the foot...
