Patty Jenkins banished from Asgard! According to Deadline Director Patty Jenkins (AMC's The Killing) is departing from Thor 2 because of "creative differences." Patty was the second choice to Game of Thrones director Brian Kirk. Marvel is said to be moving very quickly on Patty's replacement in order to keep the release date, November 15, 2013.

Deadline added that this may not be the last of Patty Jenkins in the superhero genre. I'm not sure if they are speculating or if their source gave them a scoop, but they said, "The feeling is that she’ll probably end up working on one of these superhero films, but perhaps not on a sequel."

Aw....I was really hoping she would do it!

She is great! No matter what some of you people who think only a male can do an action/comic book movie.

Her movie "Monster" was so great! She is great with female characters....I am still hoping for Enchantress and Valkyrie!!!

I'm hoping the new director is either Drew Goddard or Matt Reeves if he's done with the Twilight Zone movie in time.

Wish list for director:

1. Branagh (it could happen)
2. Guillermo del Toro (it very likely won't happen)
3. Me (no chance in hell)

By the way, the superhero movie that Patty Jenkins might do in the future has got to be The Black Widow.

@nuclearpriest....That would be cool!

If Joss Whedon makes her Russian (It was rumored he was, and with a good script, I could see a Black Widow movie kicking a lot of ass!

i want a director who knows how to film action scenes. for all the awesomeness in the Marvel Universe, the action scenes have not been all that great in any of the Marvel made movies, yet.

it's the reason i was liking the idea of McTiegue as the director. the action scenes would be incredible with him at the helm.

darren aronofsky would be a dream come true, since he left the wolverine i've wanted to see him direct a superhero movie.

It's hard not to assume Marvel is at fault, they're beginning to develop a pattern for this sort of thing.

Marvel Studios is really cultivating a "Stubborn Asshole" mentality. Just ask Terrence Howard, Edward Norton, and Jon Favreau. They might say they parted amicably in the public, but it's clear that their bridges are burnt.

Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige are just micro-managing these movies WAY too much, and it's making them worse (Iron Man 2 anyone?). All they want from a director is someone who is dirt-cheap that can act as Feige's mouthpiece.

Add Patty Jenkins name to Marvel's Wall of Shame with Jon Favreau, Mickey Rourke, and Edward Norton. Marvel Studios just cannot get a break with their directors and actors.

She parted because of creative differences. Another example of how Marvel is continuing to have a negative impact on their film properties.
