This January, the first black Robin will be introduced in Detective Comics #27. This will be set in the far future and will take place in a tale contributed by Scott Snyder and his current partner on Vertigo's The Wake, Sean Murphy. Murphy clarifies that this is in an "imaginary future," so don't expect this to sync up with next September's "Five Years Later" event.

If this story becomes popular, I wouldn't rule out this Robin and his respective Batman making future appearances. After all, Damian as Batman was technically never canonical and we received several stories with him.

Detective Comics #27, written and illustrated by various contributors, is available January 8. The preliminary sketch is courtesy of Sean Murphy's Twitter.
