LOL, that's exactly why this and my worst casting ended up as polls, I couldn't compile them into a list and decide who was the best/worst! I'll let the CBM.com community decide!

As BlackAirs mentioned, It is really hard to pick a single person.

I mean, you're gonna have me choose between the likes of Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach and Christopher Reeves as Superman! Only a madman would attempt to pick a single winner!

Although I'm not sure why Tobey Maguire is on the list. ;)

@supermario- Good luck! Tobey is one of those that is not a favorite of mine, but I knew people would ask. It was with reluctance that he was included.

good article man! just from the headline i was thinking RDJ hands down, but after seeing your choices, i have to think about it. i didn't realize all the AWESOME castings we've had over the years!

i'd still say either RDJ, JK Simmons, or Sam Jackson (ONLY because he's ultimate Fury, which was based off of Sam Jackson already anyway, lol. does that make it unfair?? lol)

honorable mentions to Hugo Weaving as V and Gerard Butler as Leonidas.

i don't know why, but i was never a fan of Ian Mckellan's Magneto. he played him a little too corny i think. his facial expressions when he's using his powers are what make me say that. (although, when Magneto pulls the guns out of the policemen's hands and turns them on them in X1, i have to say taht was CLASSIC Magneto!)

For as long as I have lived I have never seen a better choice for the Role of Superman than Christopher Reeve. God Bless him.

@CDB- Thanks! I almost left Sam Jackson off, we've seen him with, what? 2 1/2 minutes of screen time? But we all know he is going to totally own that role.

@air- Yeah, no matter who dons the red and blue, they will never be able to fill the role as well as Reeve did.

RDJ as Stark is brilliant and I can't imagine anyone else being Iron Man for a looong time. But somebody else got my vote, because I honestly don't think anyone can give us a better J. Jonah Jameson than JK Simmons - wow!

Ledger/Joker, Pearlman/Hellboy and JEH/Rorschach I love as well.

I liked Jackman as Logan after the first 2 X movies, but I don't think I can ever get over the shitfest that was the origins movie.

Haven't seen a non-animated Superman I liked so far, sorry to all the Reeve fans.

This is almost impossible...but if I have to pick I'd go

1. Chris Reeve as Superman
2. Robert Downy Jr. and Tony Stark
3. Jack/Heath as the Joker (it's too hard to pick between the two they were just both so great for different reasons
4. Patrick Stewart as Prof. X
5. Mickey Rorke as Marv

I know 3 is a bit of a cop out but sorry, it's just too hard to pick a fav amoung those two for me.
All of these picks have been great tho, and all should be recognized.

I accept all of the above and think they all did a great job... except Michael Keaton. he never really sat well with me as Batman. Acted pretty good..but didn't look the part. I know a lot of you will disagree with me. It's funny I think Michael Keaton acted the part, but didn't look the part and George Clooney looked the part but acted like crap as Bruce Wayne/Batman. LOL, sorry.

these are based off the fact that NOBODY else could have played these roles anybetter.

Hugh, and Ian are good actors but they just didnt embodie the essence of the characters, they would have been the last to come to mind and still are.

Any body else up there I'm pretty much indifferent to.

My favorite comic book movie actor is Heath Ledger as the Joker I believe he was the greatest CBM villain of all time.

The rest of the best CBM actors are

5. Hugo Weaving as V or Patrick Stewart as Prof X both are good

my personal fave was Ledger as Joker, but the all out best pic for an actor portraying a character is RDJ. he was absolutely spot on, it was like opening a comic and watching it on a screen. perfect pick.

How the hell is Christopher Reeve not winning this poll? This is a no brainer. He was the perfect casting of the most iconic superhero before superhero movies became "the thing"
