VIDEO GAMES: Trailer for Dead Island

A stunning look at the newest zombie game set on a tropical island resort. You think this is a rehash of the typical zombie shoot-em-up? Think again!

Yeah....another zombie video game. That's probably what you are thinking. Not only that, but just about every other media outlet is saturated with the undead, so why should you be excited about another video game based around the "living" dead? Dead Island is a little bit different, so give this one a chance.

So what is it that makes it so different from all the others? Dead Island is set in a resort on an island off the coast of Papua New Guinea, so the likelihood of the "heroes" of the game getting hold of large amounts of firearms and ammunition are very slim and the creators of the game, Techland and Deep Silver, took this to heart. Instead of the massive arsenal that gamers are used to in this type of game, they are forced to use more real-to-situation weapons, like broom handles, fire axes and golf clubs. There will be the occasional fire arm, but the ammunition will be quite scarce.

From IGN:
Rather than run-and-gun their way through a meat maze, players will be forced to scavenge for objects and use them to beat their undead foes into submission. There are precious few firearms scattered around the island (and even less ammo), so the majority of the combat will be intimate. Knives, machetes, bats, broomsticks, pipes – these are your defenses against the horde of infected monsters. It's survival horror with a melee action twist, and it's disgusting.

Dead Island's developers call it a "first-person zombie-slasher/action-RPG." That's a mouthful, and it's still unclear what the balance will be among those descriptors. Players will be able to choose from a cast of pre-set characters, including a former rapper named Sam B (the only character revealed so far).

The trailer below is quite stunning to watch, especially since it is for a video game and it definitely has a high level of emotion. Take a look and comment below. Be sure to check out the link below for more information on the game. I'm not a huge gamer, but this game sounds absolutely incredible and tons of bloody, gory, violent fun!

I thought this was gonna be Dead Rising 3 with the description (i.e. scarce weapons, improvised weapons, etc.). But, that trailer put a creepy factor I didn't expect. I really thought I was gonna see zombies in hula skirts. The fact that the trailer showed a child attacked then become a zombie was a bit shocking, (only seen it a couple times in zombie films). Usually director avoid it in films. I agree with the comments so far...WOW!

Very imprsseve trailer. Im with Gaston, very intense. Watched it twice. I dug the zombie mode in the CODs but it gets old when you get good at it. Id like to have a 1st person shooter set in a city with up to 10 players, playing co-op to get out of the city. MASSIVE levels like a Grand theft auto. Weapons could be anything you can swing, shoot, or cut with.

I saw this yesterday on IGN & instantly downloaded it & converted it to put on my phone, I can't wait to show everyone.
I even uploaded it onto my Facebook & I ain't even been on Facebook for months.

This illustrates just how effective marketing is, I don't even like modern games really but I can't wait to play this

Work of artistic genius!

we need a Grand Theft Auto style game, but with zombies in the city. Playing that with your friends would be great, plus running over zombies with cars, and running through buildings avoiding zombies,
