SUPERGIRL May Soon Be Revealed As Evidence Mounts In That Direction

Are CBS and David Rapaport Casting aiming to kickoff 2015 with a bit of "super" news? The Casting Director for the show says Supergirl is coming soon.

The Casting Director for The Flash, Arrow and the upcoming Supergirl tv show says the Last Daughter of Krpton is coming soon. But how soon? Typically, the news cycles downshifts into cruise control over the Holiday Season and then ramps things up into high gear after the New Year. Could one of the big news reveals of early-2015 be the announcement of who's playing Kara Zor-El?

Ali Adler and Greg Berlanti (Flash, Arrow) are developing the Supergirl tv show for CBS.

“Supergirl,” which is based on characters from DC Comics, comes from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and is exec produced by Berlanti, Adler and Sarah Schechter. It’s based on the story of Kara Zor-El, who, like her famous cousin, escaped Krypton amid its destruction. She’s been keeping her powers a secret since arriving on Earth, but now — at age 24 — she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

These type of shows always debut in the Fall.

So "soon" = September 2015 earliest.

Yep, let's make a supergirl with superman backstory not having superman, and then put it with Arrow and Flash (the former of which has personified mediocrity in S3). The DCCU is looking better and better,.

Not really interested seeing Supergirl in the dcu. I'd rather see her in the dctvu where she could be the "superman" of the universe dc has going on in the tv world

Hope I'm proven wrong, but I am not looking forward to this. I think its a big misstep by WB. These conflicts and origins have already been explored in Smallville with Clark. Nobody's asking for a rehashing of that with Kara.

Im hoping Titans is a part of the DCCU. Makes no sense combining it with Arrow. Slade only hates Arrow and Brother Blood sucked and is dead.

Maybe WB has a big plan for a movie and tv versions of their characters. If its all connected in some sly way that would be really awesome.
COREY6487

this is gonna be bullshit... they need to learn from flash and go all out comic booky. but her powers are too much money to put on screen. this is probably gonna be smallville.

hopefully they make it a 13 episode show to much the budget bigger on episodes.

@FordEl

Valid point. I could see her not wanting to commit the same character/role for multiple years since she seems to play different roles/characters in her movies.

On the other hand, idk who, but apparently A LOT of folks like and watch CBS shows, so I have to believe the role of Supergirl has to be appealing to a lot of young actresses, not just TV actresses.
If it's a success, she stands to make a lot of money and even potentially open up more career opportunities. There is the risk of it not catching on or being good, but Larson has already established a good film career she can fall back on if it does not work out.

@COREY6487 - "they need to learn from flash and go all out comic booky. but her powers are too much money to put on screen."

Yeah I thought the same thing about Flash and look how GREAT their sfx has turned out!!

Not to mention, CBS is "TV's #1 network" no reason they can't provide a MUCH bigger budget for Supergirl than the CW can for Flash!!
