In this era of endless sequels and "cinematic universes," it's nice to see big auteur-driven movies like Django Unchained, Gravity, and Noah get their day in the sun. Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic Interstellar, only 24 days away (22, if you are able to make it to one of 240 locations screening the film early on film), is next on deck. The word for months out of Paramount has been that this is Nolan’s best film yet. Then again, no one really cares what the home studios think, as they obviously have a special financial incentive to pump up their releases.
But the notoriously secretive director has been holding several screenings of the film for many people outside of Paramount, Warner Bros. and Legendary, suggesting that there is something special in store. Prominent journalists and filmmakers including Paul Thomas Anderson, Edgar Wright and Quentin Tarantino have reportedly gotten an early look at Interstellar. More industry screenings are expected to take place starting this Wednesday.
