In a recent interview with TotalFilm Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach discuss the difficulties and possibilities of there being a Spider-Man and Avengers crossover one day. "I for one don't see the value for us in it," Arad told Total Film. "I think we're doing such a good job with the Spider-Man Universe. Spider-Man is arguably the number one character in the world. He shouldn't make a cameo." Arad then goes to hint that if there was "a natural alliance for some reason...I cannot talk for Sony." But don't get your hopes too high yet, after saying that, producer Matthew Tolmach intervenes and comments that "The practical side of it is, look, how many movies have we just talked about? It's all we can do to build that universe. We're not going beyond that." Well there you have it. Would you like to see a Spidey/Avengers crossover anytime soon?

Not sure why, but I'm not that excited about the possibility of a Spider-Man/Avengers crossover.

Anyone...what issue(s) is he carrying??

Who said anything about a just cameo? Spider-Man joining the Avengers on the big screen would be monumental. They would be foolish to not jump on it.

@Joementum

Not sure the issue number(s), but I know it's an pre-Marvel NOW Avengers Assemble comic featuring Thanos.

The title made me think that this has been confirmed :-( But you know it's gonna happen, TBH, I think that the The Amazing Spider-Man 2 plot twist will involve S.H.I.E.L.D.

Spiderman should not do crossover with Avengers. Even if MARVEL gets the rights back, I would like to see Spidey doing solo-films, teaming up with Avengers only when it's like Infinity Gauntlet, Galactus or something.

@davideodus I have been thinking something like that; imagine Peter in next TASM film sitting in a subway reading some classic Avengers or Ultimates comic issue, now that's crossover I could support.

I for one hope Spiderman stays away from the Avengers franchise, he has too many characters, and iconic villains to just make him a member of the Avengers. He can survive by himself, and definitely should, rather than be a supporting character in an Avengers film... Cap, and Ironman had roughly 30 min of screentime, Hulk and Thor had around 20... Spiderman wouldn't get more than 20, while taking away screen time from Cap, Im, Hulk, and Thor... I'd rather he get his own films, while they equally share Avengers films. It's jam packed already, let's not over crowd it by adding Spiderman, god some people are greedy, and stupid.

I don't get why he would be reading an Avengers/Thanos Comic though? Fan?

Spidey is the face of Marvel comics. I just find it hard to believe that Disney/Marvel won't give it a shot at least.

Lol they think they're doing an amazing job? They just said that they don't see the value in a crossover with Avengers, yet they're the ones building a shitty universe around one character :P

They should stay separate until Marvel Studios gets the rights to the character back, THEN they should reboot Spider-Man on their own and include him from the very beginning.

Didn't Feige replace Avi Arad at Marvel? Bitterness perhaps?

Andrew Garfield will give his left nut to be in The Avengers.

I would say no until they either get back the rights or there is a universe reboot. Only because you have to ask then 1.Why isn't SHIELD all over Oscorp and 2. Where was Spider-Man during the battle of NY ? I mean you can say "ok he wasn't Spider-Man yet" but ok then after he becomes Spidey and all of NY knows this dude why isn't Fury and Co knocking on his door ? I don't know I just would rather see other Avengers and let Spidey do his thing separate...give me Black Panther, Namor, Vision, The Inhumans, Captain Marvel before ever having Spider-Man cameo in an Avengers movie.

So would Jackman.

A cameo might be fun, but I don't see why they would include Spider-Man as a full member of the Avengers; it's never felt natural in the comics, and I doubt it would on screen. That said, I would however /love/ for them to imply that this Spider-Man exists within the MCU, but nothing more.

"I think we're doing such a good job with the Spider-Man Universe."

The last movie had Peter idiotically flailing around NYC trying to find his uncle's killer by beating up random people. You are doing far from a good job.

Avi arad sucks. An extended cameo would be cool and beneficial for both parties.
Avi should stick to producing winners like Spider-Man 3

Sony is having to scrape the Spider-Man depths to create a "universe" for him. That is why we are getting movies about Spider-Man's villains.

They just lame!... Spider Man, Wolverine, Ms Marvel... They were all part of The Avengers, sometime or another. SMU can easily integrate into TAU....for example, TA travels to Spidey's home town to pursue a lead, and they got introduced to him by some small robbery or hold - up. And then he joins them to help with the fight. I don't see the bloody issue there!...
Them bloody movie execs only think 'are we gonna make XXX millions if we do a crossover? Nah too much variables'...

Garfield is NOT spider-man, with or without the mask. Get a shorter man who can act and is actually likable. Then get a cirque du sulei member for when he's in the mask. It's not rocket science. And make the mask/suit like mcfarlane's artwork. Then get a solid script that is masculine and witty. The boys should want to be him the girls should want to be with him. Make it happen Hollywood, can't be bold just in the bedroom.
