FAN CAST: The Champions

Here are my choices for the members of one of Marvel's lesser known superhero teams!

The Champions debuted with great fanfare as the first major super-hero team in Los Angeles, but for all its money, power and promise, the eclectically mismatched group lacked unity and direction, and its history was short. The driving force behind the group was the wealthy Angel, who created a "Champions, Inc." corporation to finance and administer the team.

Angel nominated Black Widow as team leader, a choice readily endorsed by her fellow Champions. The size-changing Black Goliath became an unofficial part-time Champion, serving as the team's technical adviser as scientist Bill Foster; he and other Stark Industries technicians helped design the team's high-tech skyscraper headquarters (the Champions Building) and a custom aircraft (the Champscraft).

In the end, though, the Champions were their own worst enemy: Ghost Rider and Darkstar were never fully accepted by the others, Iceman was a reluctant super-hero, Hercules was a loose cannon, and internal tensions fueled near-constant bickering until the Champions finally disbanded.

Warren Worthington III is Angel, a mutant and member of the X-Men. He sports large angelic wings, like his namesake, which allow him to fly.

Emily Blunt as Black Widow

Natasha Romanov, known as Black Widow, is one of the greatest espionage spies still alive today.

Yvonne Strahovski as Darkstar

Darkstar

Darkstar, a mutant capable of manipulating darkforce, lived and died in service to her mother country, Russia.

Jensen Ackles as Ghost Rider

GhostRider

Johnny Blaze is Ghost Rider, former motorcycle stunt driver who now fights injustice as an undead vigilante with the powers cursed upon him by an Angel known as Zadkiel in the most recent Origin. Ghost Rider is one of the most powerful beings on earth.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Hercules

Hercules

Hercules is one of the three Olympian sons of Zeus. Born of a mortal woman, the Prince of Power has since become an Olympian god and superhero.

Jamie Bell as Iceman

Iceman

The youngest member of the original X-Men, Bobby is an Omega-level mutant with the ability to drop his internal and external body temperature allowing him to turn his body into ice and project ice blasts.

Omar Epps as Black Goliath

BlackGoliath

Brilliant and tough, Goliath fought evil using a variation of the Pym Particles. He was killed during the Civil War by Ragnarok, a clone of Thor.

Nice picks Joshw but Holloway for Angel. Doesn't Angel need someone that can pull off the "I come from money" high society type?

Nice but I have another idea for Ghost Rider, (which GR is it though??, Blaze or Ketch??). If its Blaze then I say JIM CAVIEZEL FOR GHOST RIDER!!!!! Otherwise good picks JOSH!!!

is jensen ackles all over your fancast or what not insulting you but come on man im surprised he is not cast as every character. he seems to 90210ish to play ghost rider

DogsOfWar: Thanks - I think that Holloway is a good enough actor to be able to pull off that kind of role even though his performance in Lost is the complete opposite!

CRITIC: Thanks man! :) As far as I know, the Ghost Rider who was in The Champions was Blaze so thats a good pick for the character you've made dude!

bleedthefreak16: Nope - the only characters I've cast Jensen Ackles as is Captain America (in maybe one or two of my casts) and as Ronin in one other! If you've ever watched Supernatural you'd see that his character in that show has a lot of the same qualities as Johnny Blaze! I'm not sure about Holloway as Gambit though - he seems a decent choice but I'd prefer to see James Franco in that part!

@joshw24 wow i thought i was the only one who wanted James Franco but for some reason i just dropped the idea a while back because i heard they rejected him to be in x men 3

Good cast Josh@!

The only one I have a little problem with is
Jeffrey Dean- for Herc...he has Herc's personality
but he's not quite the physical size of Hercules!
Of course they can make JDM look bulkier so
that's just a little nit pick I have!

I like Tyler's@ pick of Kevin Durand! Of course the
both of them have been picked on here to play
another big beefy blustery guy, LOBO!

Phinehas: Lol, she's as hot as hell! :D I actually think she'd make a brilliant Valkyrie as well!

bleedthefreak16: Really? I hadnt heard that rumour! I think Franco is a good choice for Gambit as he not only looks the part but his role in Pineapple Express showed that he's a pretty diverse actor so I think he'd pull it off really well!

CRITIC: Cool! I've only read a few Champions comic books but I'm sure you could find them in a graphic novel somewhere! (I've just never looked, lol!)

DDD: Thanks bud! I get what you mean but JDM has been my top Hercules choice for quite a long time because as you said he has the right personality (and IMO, the right look as well!) And yeah, he might be a bit too small but I'm sure there's a way they could bulk him up! I like TYLER's choice for Herc as well but as I'm not a DC fan and know pretty much nothing about Lobo, lol, JDM will have to stay on as y top choice for Hercules! :)

You know, would like the actor to play Hercules
be looking like Ferigno! But of course their is
only one Lou but he isn't the right personality to
play the Herc of Marvel! JDM has the face and
personality of Herc of the Champions to a "T"!
I think they could use part prosthetics, part
CGI and he would be absolutely perfect!

Franco is one of my favorite actors and would make
an excellent Gambit! So would Ryan Kwanten from
TRUE BLOOD! But Franco is one of the best young
actors around!

BTW, the original line-up of THE CHAMPIONS was
ANGEL, BLACK WIDOW, HERCULES, DARKSTAR, GHOST
RIDER and ICEMAN, which of course you already
know!

great cast EXCEPT the Ghost Rider choice...seriously he's so wrong for GR it's scary and seeing him everywhere just makes me hate him more....Johnny Depp IS Ghost Rider, he was Marvel's choice and he's mine too.

Don't really like the Ice Man pic, i think Jaimie Bell could be used elsewhere.

Hey @ JOSH , i like it man, but now your big on RYAN for CAP no good pimping him out for another MARVEL role lol(Ackles lol), Nah he'd be okay, but since CAGE is GHOST RIDER and he's older, i dunno how this would work???

He could play the newer GHOST RIDER though! Still [frick]ing say HAWKEYE myself lol! ; D

I don't know its too close to SUPERNATURAL for my liking if ya know what i mean!

I really like the rest dude, love the DARKSTAR pic!!! ANGEL will havta think about that one lol, but original, an whats wrong with SCARLET JO has WIDOW, shes near perfect, though i like BLUNT too, though i got her as someone else in MARVEL she'd make an excellent WIDOW though, good stuff man!

OMAR = PERFECT!! ; )

P.S. How can JAMIE BELL be BUCKY and ICEMAN lol???

Ryden: Thanks! I hadnt heard the rumours about Depp as Ghost Rider - to be honest, I cant see that working myself but I agree that Bell could be used for other roles! However, IMO Iceman is one of them!

Yeah, I remember teabag casting The Champions at some point (cant remember who he chose though) so I'm sure he'd enjoy this!!

To be honest, I didnt think of Cage when I cast Ackles as Ghost Rider but I think he's a better fit for (a younger version at least) the character! You make a good point about it being a little to close to Supernatural though, lol! Thinking about it, Ackles is probably better suited to Hawkeye than Ghost Rider but I just wanted to come up with a different actor for the part and I think he'd actually do a really good job in the role!

Scarjo is definitely a perfect Black Widow but as this is such a small cast, like with Ackles rather than Cage for Ghost Rider, I decided to go with a different actress rather than one who's already been cast!! I'm glad you like my other choices though (Omar Epps is probably my favourite pick on here as well) and as Jamie Bell is only my second or third choice for Bucky, I'd be ok with him being cast as Iceman instead!
