Here are my choices for who should star in a reboot of the Superman franchise. No origins (again!), no kid - just the Superman movie that we all want to see!

Sam Worthington as Clark Kent/Superman

Superman


Though this will probably be an extremely unpopular and maybe even controversial choice, after seeing Avatar I think that Worthington is perfect for the role. Yes, I've spent months saying that I dont think he's right for Captain America (and I stick by that) but if could just perfect his American accent just a little more then I think he'd make a great Superman and Clark Kent! I think that unlike Cap, he has the right qualities as an actor for these roles and as someone who isnt a fan of the Routh or Welling suggestions (or any of the others all that much either) I'm sticking with this pick! :)

Rachel McAdams as Lois Lane

Im a big fan of McAdams' and I thinks she has all the right qualities as an actress for this part.

Amy Adams as Lana Lang

If they included Lana in the movie then I dont think it would need to be a huge part but if they do, then I think Adams is a good fit for the role.

Ray Wise as Perry White

I really enjoyed his performance in the brilliant but short lived TV show Reaper and I think he'd make a great Perry.

Jamie Bell as Jimmy Olsen

He's an excellent actor and just perfectly suited to this role in my opinion.

Elisha Cuthbert as Cat Grant

I think it would be a good idea to expand the Daily Planet cast seen in the movie and Cat Grant could be an interesting addition. Cuthbert is a great actress and I think she'd be suited to this type of role.

Yvonne Strahovski as Supergirl

Her role in the TV show Chuck has shown that she knows how to act and kick ass at the same time whilst still being incredibly hot. For those reasons and the fact that she looks the part, I think she'd make a great Supergirl.

Now I know there are a lot of differing opinions about who the villain should be in the next Superman movie so here are my choices for some of Superman's greatest villains - any of which, I'd be happy to see in a movie!

Ralph Fiennes as Lex Luthor

The guy is great at playing a villain and however big or small his role in the movie would be I can think of no one better at portraying a truly menacing and evil version of the character.

Johnny Depp as General Zod

I know this may seem like an odd choice but I think that Depp could bring a lot to this role. Ok, he may not have the same commanding presence as Terrence Stamp but he's a quality actor and I have no problem imagining him making the role his own in an amazingly unique way.

Arnold Vosloo as Brainiac

Though Braniac would most likely be a mixture of CGI and make-up, I think that Vosloo is a perfect fit for the part both looks and voice wise. He's also a great actor (as seen in 24 and Blood Diamond)

Michael Clarke Duncan as Darkseid

Darkseid

Though this character would probably require a fair bit of CGI to look as large and menacing as in the comic books, I cant think of anyone better to cointribute their likeness and voice to the character.

CGI as Doomsday

I think that Smallville showed us that a non-CGI Doomsday looks awful. Admittedly a movie with a much larger budget could do a better job but in my opinion, CGI is the only thing that could do the character justice.

No offense, but why does everyone want to cast Sam Worthington?Maybe it's just me, but he comes off as being a very stiff actor.He's kinda rough around the edges.Good for characters like Marcus in Terminator, or Perseus.It's not really a good match for Clark Kent.I agree with Rachel McAdams, though.

Great cast Josh with the exception of the first one!

I think Worthington can be a great CBM character but all the same arguments apply for Superman as they do Cap.

Yo, besides your Superman pick this really is a GREAT FANCAST!!!

Worthington is wrong on so many levels for that role...

I just don't understand why you went with that choice, yea he was pretty good in AVATAR, but you ruined what is probably your best fancast EVER with that one choice......change it before anyone else sees!! lol.

Damn, everyone seems to like the cast apart from my Superman pick, lol! I should have just gone with a safe choice like Routh but I'm telling you guys, I think he's a good fit for the character! :)

A CGI DOOMSDAY is perfect dude!! : P

Right now to all the others!! Joking lol, i like BRAINIAC, original pick, LEX as FIENNES yep we was all talking about lol, he would make a good LEX, LANA LANG is good!

Can i just say, DARKSEID does not look like an African America lol, he would be best CGI'ed too, to give that un human look, if we had MCD playing him it'll look like MCD with grey make up on.

SUPERGIRLS okay but YVONNE is much better suited as a perfect BLACK CANARY, talking SUPERGIRL CUTHBERTS perfect for her!!

As for CAT GRANT even being in a a SUPERMAN flick is totally wrong, we don't want a love triangle thing going on, it'll be worst than what happened in SUPERMAN RETURNS with all that lovey dovey stuff, i say a hell no to a CAT GRANT ever being in a SUPERMAN movie! ; D

JAMIE BELL is a better BUCKY, um McADAMS was my fav pick till ppl pointed out shes too much like KATE BOSWORTH,,, dude check out with MICHELLE MONAGHAN she just the perfect LOIS going man!!

Now to the main one lol, dude all them months an months of you saying sh1t about WORTHINGTON as CAP an you cast him as DC'S AMERICA'S APPLE SUPERHERO PIE????

Clark Kent is MARVELS Steve Rogers dude!!!

I'll get the ones I don't like out of the way first.

Worthington as Supes. Now, Worthington was great in Avatar, but he is all wrong for Superman. He doesn't have the look, and is certainly not the right height or build.

Strahovsky as Supergirl. The only reason I don't like this pick is because Strahovsky is just too perfect for Black Canary.

Depp as Zod. I don't think Depp has the intensity for this role. I just can't see it.

I am okay with the rest, though I prefer different actors/actresses.

Bell could be Bucky and Jimmy and McAdams is both a better actress and far more attractive than Bosworth (though Monaghan is a great choice dude!)

I know that Superman is DC's Captain America but thats just it - he's not Cap, lol! Seriously man, what do you think of him as Superman??

CRITIC: Worthington for Captain America!? The guy cant hold an Ameri - oh hang on...I'm supporting him for Superman so I better stop criticizing him so much, lol! ;D Seriously though, thanks man!

BulliedNerd: If dropping Depp would make you go and see this movie, I'll do it lol! Yeah, Worthington wants to be Cap (or it at least looks that way from recent reports) but I think he's compltely wrong for that role - Superman on the other hand, I can see working!

OZY: The mighty have fallen huh? When I start copying other peoples casts then I'll start to worry! ;) I'll go check out your cast now man!

TYLER: Thanks - I guessed that you probably wouldnt be a fan of the Worthington pick, lol! To be honest, I dont think I've ever read a comic book with Black Canary in so I couldnt really say if she's right for that role or not! Have to disagree with you about Depp though - after watching Public Enemies, I have a feeling he'd do a good job with the role giving a really unique and interesting take on the character! :)

I don't think Depp was all that intimidating in Public Enemies. He was the charming, suave bank robber, I don't know if he could pull off intense and scary like Zod.

Maybe it's just that I get sick of hearing Depp's name suggested for every role :)

Sam Worthington wouldnt be bad as Superman, but i think he would be better for other CBM's.

I also like your Lex and Zod picks, they're really good.

TYLER: Thanks - I only really know the character from Smallville! Thats a good point you make about Depp actually but I can just see him in the role for some reason! I know he hasnt really done any roles where he's played a Zod-type character but I honestly think he's a brilliant enough actor to give both a portrayal accurate to the comic books whilst also giving his own unique spin on things! Oh, and I'll be sure to go and check out your Avatar review!

BatmanKnight: Thanks - Lex and Zod were actually two of my favourite picks when I was making this thing! And thank God- finally someone who isnt completely negative towards my Superman choice, lol! :) Personally, I think Worthington would make a good Jim Hammond (the original Human Torch) I'll keep an eye out for your cast bud!

OZY: Wow man, thats an excellent idea! He most definitely has the right voice for the part and I'd say he's more the right age as well (sort of like with the Depp vs. Neeson Doctor Strange argument, lol!)

Im not down with your Superman pic Im one of those guys who thinks Routh can get the job done with the right storyline. Not really sure about your Supergirl either she looks a little skinny for my taste so far Im stuck on L.Vandervoot.

Your pick for Lex,Perry White,ZOD,and the rest I think are dead on. Especially CGI for Doomsday like they did with the Hulk. Only think I didnt like about Hulk being CGI was that the villian was also CGI just seem like alot and it was noticable.

I've noticed a few people dont like DEPP as Zod Im sure Depp can dial up the intensty for the part. The guy is an amazing actor and what makes him amazing is the ability to become the character he's portraying. He doesnt look right for the part, but in this case I think with his talent and for this role it really doesnt matter.

Darkseid I think can work with someone with the right phyiscal stature and commading voice like a Micheal Duncan Clark although CGI isnt a bad idea either.

For the most part Joshw24 I like your picks.

Although I really can’t see Worthington as Supes I admire the originality and your decision to stick with it.

Totally agree on the Lois pick.

Great Lana Lang pick.

Interesting Perry choice, he looks a bit menacing but I guess he’d do a good job.

I like the Jimmy choice.

I think if you swapped your Supergirl and Cat Grant choices around they would be perfect ;)

Although he’d make an awesome Lex I think he’s better suited for other roles.

Interesting Zod choice, I can kind of see it although I prefer Gerard Butler.

Not to keen on your Brainiac pick, I don’t think the Mummy guy has the acting skills to play Brainiac.

Totally agree Doomsday should be CGI.

OZY: I actually get what you mean - Worthington does give off a vibe of a darker Superman so i guess Snyder would be suitable for that type of Superman movie (though I dont think he's the right director to be honest!)

BLADE4040: Thanks man! Superman Returns left such a bad taste in my mouth, I'm not sure if I want Routh back to be honest! I liked Vandervoort as Supergirl but I'm not sure if I'd want her in a big screen version...I think that as long as it's done properly a CGI version of Doomsday would work pretty well!

Ryden: Thanks a lot bud! :) I actually thought the same thing when I cast Ray Wise as Perry (I mean, the guy did play the devil in Reaper, lol!) but I think he's a decent choice. Interesting point about the Supergirl/Cat Grant switch - I didnt think of that but it would work perfectly! I get what you mean about the guy form The Mummy but his part in 24 convinced me he's a better actor than his cheesy role in those movies! Good Zod choice by the way!

I have to say that its been interesting to dip my toes into DC water and although I'm back working on a Marvel cast at the moment (Dark X-Men) I will be returning to DC with some casts based off some comic book arcs I've read - I was thinking of doing a Red Hood and Hush one for Batman for example! After doing this cast, I'll probably do a Batman 3 cast but as this is now my 30th cast and I'm starting to run out of character I think I'll start doing more casts based on well known story arcs instead!

Ryden: Thanks - this is my 30th cast and I too am out of ideas! There are one or two more teams that I'm going to cast (an X-Factor Investigations TV show maybe) but then I'm completely clueless (apart from the few I mentioned above!) Joshw24 : I understand about Vandervoot boy she should've held out for the big screen version . Typically when a actor portray a character on t.v. they've doomed their chances for the big screen.

I would like to see Routh given atleast one more chance I think Superman Returns had the wrong director not the wrong guy playing Superman.

I'll be on the look-out for some of your marvel cast since you say that's your cup of tea so to speak. I really dont check out the fan cast and when I do I rarely comment unless I have something good to say. I know you guys spend alot of time doing these cast so if I do comment I like to keep it positive.
If I see one that's totally JACKED in my opinion I keep it to myself and I dont comment at all. It's easy to stand on the sideline and pick apart someone else's work .

this is a fantastic cast!!!! I actually agree 100% with everything in it, worthington would bring a kickass element that superman movies need!! for some reason i still think henry cavill would make a trememendous superman even mroe but if this cast were real i would love it just the same

I appreciate your point about Routh...Singer was a terrible choice for director (and an even worse choice to direct First Class) and he really [frick]ed things up with Returns so I wouldnt be totally against the idea of Routh being given another chance!

flames809: Thanks! I think they could use a suit of some sort but they'd definitely need to use a lot of CGI to make the character as big and menacing as the comic book version - which is actually the reason why i think it should be fully CGI!

I really like Worthington for Hawkman now. I thought it was a decent choice before Avatar, but I think he'd do great in the role now. I don't think he has the right look, build, height, and I don't think he would be convincing as the leader of the Justice League.

I gotta admit i really do like all your MARVEL stuff more, becoz unless you read DC every week, your not really knowing the characters, going by Smallville, etc, is like going by picking casting from the SUPERHERO SQUAD cartoon show! An dude ROUTH isn't a safe choice, he's the only choice, he embodies SUPERMAN in the comics through an through!!

You can die his hair and maybe muscle him up
but you can't stretch 5'10" out to a big tall
6'3-4". There's just no way! :D Plus he just
can't hide his Auzzie accent! I'm American and
I can really hear his Oz-ccent in every thing
he's done on the big screen. And he's supposed
to be an American in every roll he's played yet!
I don't buy him as American ever and it takes
me out of the movie every time I hear him!

Supes is from whitebread middle America Kansas!
He's as American as a person can get! Not Auzzie-
American. Believe me I know 'cause my mother was
from Middle America and her accent was just as
whitebread as Supes should be! Wellington has the
best middle American accent I've heard but that's
where he's originally from.
