FAN CAST: Captain America: Reborn

FAN CAST: Captain America: Reborn

To celebrate the upcoming Captain America casting announcement, here are my choices for who I’d like to see play the major characters from the storyline that brought the star spangled Avenger back from the dead...

I think it’s fair to say that Captain America: Reborn will never be a movie. However, with the official announcement for who will play Cap imminent in the next few days I decided to do one final cast before all of, or most of, these roles are filled for 2011’s The First Avenger: Captain America! I’ve done two Captain America casts in the past, one focusing on his WWII adventures and the other on his modern day exploits - this cast is really the best of those choices, a lot of new ones and also happens to be my 49th Fan Cast for CBM! Be sure to keep an eye out for my HUGE 50th cast in the next week or two..! J

Still a big no to McPartlin. I just can't support him.

No to McGinley. I can't see him in the role at all.

And I don't recall who Rupert Everett is. Though I heard he isn't that great.

The rest are awesome. Bucky, Hank, Hawkeye, Reed, Red Skull, etc.

Nice job once again Josh! Wow, 49 casts and counting! Any hints on what #50 will be? It seems like McPartlin is slipping from being front runner but we'll see.

It would be cool to see Falcon on the big screen. Is Dunbar a decent actor? Haven't heard of him before. Personally I'd like to see Shemar Moore as Falcon. I think he could do justice to any superhero

TYLER: Thanks man! :) I've only seen Everett in a BBC TV movie where he played Sherlock Holmes - he was fantastic in that but I couldnt tell you what else he's been in! Would you be really disapponted if McPartlin were cast or do you think you could come around to the idea?

DOGS: Thanks bud! Yeah, if the recent reports are anything to go by then it would seem that McPartlin isnt one of the front runners for Cap...I'm still hoping that it'll be him weilding the shield though! :)

A hint, eh? Hmm...it's based on one (or possibly more depending how much time I have!) of Marvel's big events from the past decade! I'm still working out whether to have it in one part or more!

Dunbar is a great actor IMHO. He's best known (at least to me) for his role in Prison Break which he was great in. Good choice with Moore - what's he been in?

If McPartlin does get the part yes I will be disappointed. I'll mope around for a bit and then eventually I'll get over it and move on. A bit like the GL casting, except I don't think I'll quite come around as much as I have now for Reynolds, who I think will totally own as Hal. I'll go into a "I'll wait and see but still, they could have done better, oh well" state after the initial week or so of disappointment. Wow, is it weird that I have a sort of schedule for my moods?
DogsOfWar
DogsOfWar - 2/22/2010, 12:43 PM
He is in Criminal Minds which is a pretty cool show. He even gets the occasional fight scene. He was also in the short lived CBM tv series "Birds of Prey" as a cop.

Good luck on your 50th. I'd say if its too huge to split it up. IMO, people tend to just start scrolling through huge fancasts when there are a ton of characters.

Pretty awesome casting.

1st Captain America: Since we're going with the "post First Avenger" version of Captain America, then McPartlin is the best choice.

2nd Captain America: He used to be my pick for the "First Avenger" Captain America (and still is, I'm not totally convinced that the Buckley rumor is true). I suggest to have an older Bucky (I mean old enough to don't look like a sidekick), then have the same actor that played him as the second Cap. That's why I want Aaron Johnson for Bucky, cause he's young enough to play the WW2 version, and tall enough to play the modern version.

Vision: Glad to see my pick for Vision on your Fan Cast.

Norman Osborn: Nothing against McGinley, I just prefer Chris Meloni.

Crossbones: I don't think he fits the role, he might be too short. Maybe Derek Mears.

Eric O'Grady: Repeating what I said on the Ant-Man cast, Simon Pegg is too old. I think Jason Segel would be great.

Mads Mikkelsen for Red Skull
Brian Cox for Arnim Sola

Dude @ At least vary the CAP pick lol???!

I do, plus RYAN's to young for the CAP in this movie, gotta be VALLEY or LEWIS or DAMON or someone!!

I'm all for ARMIE HAMMER, (plus RYAN) but don't cast him in every CAP casting!! ; D

ACKLES FOR RONIN!!!

HEDLUND, hell yeah!!! (cough)

Not sure about vision, he's to big a star for that CGI part!

RED SKULL = DANIEL DAY-LEWIS! MADS is a [frick]ing decoy SKULL GEEZUZ! : D

Like the rest.

MTL: Cheers dude! The fact that Wilson and Crudup were both in Watchmen isnt a big deal I dont think! If it had been a bigger CBM with more mainstream characters then sure but as they're not and these two are such great fits for the roles then I'd be more than happy to see them as Hank and Reed!

Butler would make an excellent Kraven but as he's really low down on the list of characters that I'd like to see in a Spider-Man movie, I'd much prefer to see him play Ares! Lol, I'm happy with Pearce and Davies in those roles!

TYLER: A little, lol! ;) Nah, I get exactly what you mean bud! Thats pretty much how I'll feel if anyone but Ackles or McPartlin gets cast!

DOGS: Thanks for the info - I'll have to check him out on YouTube, lol! Good point about the 50th man...I'll wait until I finish it until I decide for definite but as it's pretty big I'll more than likely follow your advice!

TANKGIRL: Thanks! :)

ThalesNJ: Thanks dude! I agree with both your points about the Captain America's, although I couldnt see Johnson as the older Bucky! The younger one definitely but I'm not sure if he'd be able to pull off the Winter Soldier in personality or looks!

Great minds think alike huh? I knew that someone on CBM must of planted the Pearce for Vision idea in my head, lol! Interesting Osborn and Crossbones choices! You make a good point about Pegg...I definitely wouldnt be against Segal playing O'Grady!

AlexDeLarge: Yeah, Brian Cox would be a brilliant Zola while I believe it was TYLER who first made the excellent decision of having Mikkelsen play the Red Skull!

LEE: Thanks bud! How can I vary my Captain America choice when McPartlin is so perfect for the role, lol? :P I'm not sure which comic book character I'd cast Ackles as now that I want McPartlin for Cap and Renner for Hawkeye! Pearce is a big star, sure, but he had a small role in The Hurt Locker (which kicked Avatar's ass at the BAFTA's, lol!) so I'm sure he'd be up for it! Not a big fan of DDL...Mads FTW! :D
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 2/22/2010, 1:40 PM
JOSH @ DDL would own the RED SKULL part, think about it, be it McPARTLIN or HAMMER or some other UNKNOWN, we need an actor of his calibur to carry the film, if LEO, or DAMON was CAP, MADS would be fine, by the way, you know there was two RED SKULL's right??

Love COX man, and of course TIM for VENOM II!!

Cool GHOST too!

Oh and.... hell yeah =

I Love the cast Man!
Ryan Mcpartlin is the best choice for Captan America! But the Captain America in Reborn is more experienced. So,I say Mark Valley for this story and others like Civil War
ScarJo is Black Widow!Mads is Red Skull!
Hedlund is a great choice for the older Bucky!
Guy Pearce is perfect for Vision!
Jensen Ackles is the best choice for Hawkeye/Ronin!
Hate the Osborn and Doom choices though.
Doctor Doom-Ralph Fiennes
Norman Osborn-Jackie Earle Haley

BLADE44 - 2/22/2010, 3:39 PM
Not sure about the Cap pick I dont know the guy
Dunbar is a good actor he's been in Soul Food, few HBO and BET movies, but I dont see him as Falcon. The guy is like 5'6" and he's been casted more of a working class family man not action adventure. I'd personally like to see the black guy from TRUEBLOOD as the FALCON. Red Skrull,Norman Osbourne,Ares, and SIN are all excellent choices.
TANKGIRL
TANKGIRL - 2/22/2010, 3:52 PM
those actors they are a high pay actors i think we should more think about unknow actors
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 2/22/2010, 5:11 PM
LEE: Though DDL wouldnt be my first choice for Red Skull, you're completely right about them needing a big name star for the role! But dude, they need to avoid using the decoy Skull, lol! Glad you like those two picks man and I completely forgot that you Hedlund for Bucky!

BatmanKnight: Thanks a lot dude, I'm pleased you like the cast! :) I'll head over and check out your JLA cast right away!

Ryden: Thanks! I personally really liked Pegg in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Star Trek - I'd be happy to see him as the third Ant-Man (he's not right for the other two IMO) but I really like ThalesNJ idea of Segal in the role!

NightAvenger4: Thanks mate! :) Not a Mark Valley fan to be honest...Wentworth Miller, Matt Damon or even Patrick Wilson would be my top choices for an older, more experiences Steve Rogers! I'm glad you like the majority of my picks - although I could definitely see Fiennes as Doom, I cant really imagine Haley as Osborn!

OZY: Cheers man, much appreciated!

blade40: Thanks dude - Ryan McPartlin is best known for playing "Captain Awesome" on Chuck! He's a great actor and IMO, has all the right qualities the actor playing Cap should have! I think Dunbar could pull it off...he was pretty bad ass in Prison Break!

TANKGIRL: The only problem is most unknown actors arent very good ones, lol! I'd rather a cast like this than a bunch of nobodies off of shows 90210 and One Tree Hill!

tea: Thanks bud! :)

AshleyWilliams - 2/22/2010, 5:26 PM
I see what You mean about Haley,Josh. But,Your used to him being the crazy guy.Well,if You watch Human Target,He's a scientist there. He reminds me Osborn on the show!
Matt Damon is a Good choice too!

Excellent cast @Josh!
Extremely excellent!

Everybody is right on the money!

Ryan McPartlin is one of those
actors who can play younger and older!
That's why I like him for the CAP
movie! He probably won't get the part though!
They're really looking for way younger than
Ryan!

But he can play CAP forever in my book!
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 2/23/2010, 12:58 PM
NightAvenger4: I still havent watched that show...I'll have to make the time to check it out!

ANIL: Thanks dude - yeah, Pegg would be ok but I think there are other actors out there, like the ones you mention, who would probably make a better O'Grady! James Remar for JJJ!

LEE: Lol, thanks man!

DDD: Thanks bud! :) I completely agree with you about McPartlin...fingers crossed that Marvel see sense and they cast him!
