2010 has been a great year for comic book movies. Kick-Ass wowed critics and audiences alike while Iron Man 2 has already gone down a storm in the UK and looks to do the same when it's released stateside this coming Friday! With Jonah Hex, Prince of Persia and TRON: Legacy all still on the way, the year's far from over but the best may be yet to come with 2011 and 2012 set to be the most epic ever.

With Marvel releasing The First Avenger: Captain America and Thor next year, 2012 will see them and the Iron Man franchise combined to team up the characters in what might just be the most anticipated comic book movie ever, The Avengers! Meanwhile, DC will be bringing the Green Lantern onto the big screen for the first time as well as continuing the Batman franchise and rebooting Superman at the same time. Surely pointing to a Justice League movie not too far into the future as well! Of course, both companies also have more movies on offer in the next two years as do many other studios who'll be bringing the likes of Star Trek 2, Cowboys & Aliens and Transformers 3 into a cinema near you!

Now, ComicBookMovie has a new and updated calendar with all of the release dates of these upcoming movies as well as a list of those that don't have a date set and even movies that are still nothing more than a rumour! So next time you want to know when exactly your favourite comic book character will hit the big screen don't Google it! Find it right here on CBM!

We are indeed pretty damn lucky to be alive when all of these movies are finally getting made (along with the technology existing to do them justice!) and the next few years will be especially epic! I just cant wait to see what Marvel have in store after The Avengers..! :)

supermarioworldE: Cheers man!

LEE: Thanks mate, just checked it and you're right! It's 2, not 3! ;)

OZY: Hey, at least give him a chance dude! He's made some stellar casting choices so far if nothing else! And please dont tell me that you believe that "world will end in 2012!" crap, lol!

HAWKS: Thanks bud, much appreciated! The odd thing is that although you're right about John Carter of Mars, I couldnt find a release date any more specific than Summer 2012!
Joker08
Joker08 - 5/5/2010, 6:30 PM
There's no way Deadpool will be out next year...

@Ozymandias: I'm really looking forward to Captain America but I have no faith in Johnston. it really sucks. He's only directed one good movie in my opinion. And I really like Evans for Cap, and from what it sounds like that was all on Feige - Johnston wanted Krasinski, the worst choice imaginable.

But for 2011, Cap, GL, and Thor are all really high up there for me. And for 2012, I'm really looking forward to Wolverine 2, I think they'll get it right this time.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 5/5/2010, 6:37 PM
Hmmm...not sure which of these I'm most looking forward to! I guess it would have to be The Avengers like pretty much everyone else! I mean, how could anyone not look forward to that? I'm pretty sure that it will be so epic, I'll soil myself in teh cinema! :P

Next up would have to be Thor followed by The First Avenger: Captain America with Batman 3 and Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall finishing up my own top 5!

However, I'd be lying to say I'm not excited about seeing pretty much all of these (well, apart from stuff like Hancock 2, lol!) and even movies like X-Men: First Class and the Spider-Man reboot, both of which have the potential to be great if done properly!

@Joker

Isn't that what they said about Fantastic Four? ...

In my opinion both origin stories sucked equally.

The worst things about all these is that there is no way I can afford to see them all, some of them I'll have to rent. Damn too many good movies to watch. If this keeps my backlog of movies will keep growing.
Kick Ass 2 FTW

Lol Joe Johnston makes Ozy hard.
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 5/5/2010, 6:54 PM
Johnston is very hit and miss. He's had hits (October Sky, Rocketeer) and his fair share of misses (JurASSic Park 3, Woflman, but he came onto production very late on the latter). It's going to come down to the script, Johnston will do well with a good script in his hands. I think that his work on October Sky and Rocketeer make me a bit more optimistic for him than I should be. The former tells the story of a wide-eyed, ambitious young man and his mission to mark his place in history. The latter captures the feel and essence of America in 1939, around the time that First Avenger will take place. Do I have doubts? Absolutely, but I think that if the script is solid, then Johnston will do pretty well. Plus, his interviews make me feel like he's got a good grasp on the character. I shall wait for the trailer/pics to judge further. Until then, I can only hope for the best.

So...yeah :)
