On Twitter yesterday, Matt Fraction (mattfraction) was talking about the upcoming return of The Mandarin in Invincible Iron Man, the DC and Green Lantern writer Geoff Johns (geoffjohns0) had a sudden idea...

And it was at this point that the two writers started sharing story ideas! Here are some of the main highlights:

And there you have it - an actual story idea was born! Marvel and DC havent done a crossover in a long time but with Iron Man's movies proving a hit with comic book fans and critics alike and Green Lantern making his big screen debut next year, now would be the perfect time for the two companies to team both the characters and two of their best writers up!

So, what do you think? Would you like to see this idea come to fruition? Have your say with the poll below and in the usual place!

It's just a joke between friends. Nothing more. Besides crossovers are lame. You get stupid out-of-continuity stories or you get ridiculous characters like Access!

@Spectre1983 - Aw, come on. Would you really have preferred for the Marvel/DC crossover to never have happened? Besides, I've got a Superman/Silver Surfer comic and a Daredevil/Batman comic that are really good. I think I've got a Batman/Spider-man one too, but it didn't work as well, as I recall.

john stewart vs Rhodey....um....that could be epic.

A crossover comic or arc is only good if it is completely separated from continuity. And so long as they use good characters rather then Green Lantern.

@teabag - Yep. It was kind of neat how they contrasted Joker as the planner and Carnage as the instant gratification guy so they end up hating each other. That is about all I can remember about it.

tea: Thanks bud! :) I agree - this was definitely just two pals messing around but it's nice to think that the idea is out there I suppose! I cant say that I care too much about Green Lantern or his movie (though I'll most definitely be there when it's released!) but if these two writers were to team up and make this a reality, I'd be all for it!

I could see the story come alive as I was reading! XP

This isn't happening. Writers and artists joke with each other on Twitter all the time. Gail Simone alone concocts some sort of Deadpool crossover idea once or twice a week, and she writes for DC. lol

I accept any kind of Marvel-DC crossover. But knowing Disney, they're probably will make it into a big legal thing and will disapprove of it. SHEESH. LOL

The only logical direction to go to after the Avengers and Justice League would be DC vs Marvel....Imagine the anticipation of a movie featuring The Hulk vs Superman!!

I am a loyal DC fan, but I have read some Spider-Man and Iron Man from Marvel, and in all honesty, I wouldn't oppose a crossover....and yes, as long as it is out of continuity.

@Anil- I look at crossovers as the funny B-movies of comics. As that, I say bring it on. : )

an obvious joke, too many issues It's hard enough getting multiple Marvel leading characters on the screen at the same never.

We won't see a DC Marvel crossover, definitely not in the next 20 years

I'd read it. Ever since DC vs Marvel, I can't help it but love these out of continuity crossovers.
@TheAsianAvenger- Great pic. Amalgam comics were a great read. Super Soldier, Spider-boy, Dark Claw, and Iron Lantern were my faverites.
