Aaron Johnson or Anton Yelchin To Play Spider-Man? Aaron Johnson or Anton Yelchin To Play Spider-Man?

The two actors have apparently been added to the short list of those in the running for the role of the amazing Spider-Man...

The Los Angeles Times has reported that both Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson and Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin are in the running to play the tennaged Peter Parker in the 2012 reboot which is set to be directed by Marc Webb.

"Of course, just the fact that these actors are being considered means little in practice. Over the last few months, director Marc Webb has canvassed a wide group of young actors with the aim of seeing which one he and and the studio should anoint to take the role previously filled by Tobey Maguire," the Times adds in their report reposted over on IGN.

"Screen testing is expected to start shortly. And the hue and cry over whether the right choice was made will follow shortly after that."

The untitled Spider-Man reboot is due to be released on July 3, 2012!

Interesting. They definitely have a wide range of actors they are looking at for the role. Which is a good thing to me.

Aaron Johnson - I believe of Kick Ass would own this role. However he must start filming Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall at the time Spidey starts, right?

Both these guys are not good for the role.

neither.
Johnson is Kick-Ass
Yelchin is (should be) Bob, Agent of Hydra.

still pissed about this reboot.

Seriously, why not screen test Logan Lerman already?

Yelchin would make a better Harry.

Here's a compromise they could just cast Aaron as Parker and Yelchin as Harry and BAM! they'll already have two cast members. Anyone in favor of that?

yeah,i would go aaron johnson.
but please see that the ultimate universe is the wrong way to go.
the proper marvel universe is what the hardcore spidey fans want.
i admit i wouldn't mind seeing a spider-man noir movie made.

@deadpool72: What's wrong with the Ultimate universe? I bet that if Marvel was helming this they would use Ultimate Spider-Man as well because of all the crossovers with Tony Stark, and Nick Fury etc. Anyway, since when is it blasphemy to use one continuity of a superhero comic over the other? No canon is more right than the other IMO

I dont want this reboot any more than you guys but we're stuck with it so might as well just hope for the best but prepare for the worst! :P

Aaron Johnson has always come across as being a bit of a dick in the interviews I saw him in while promoting Kick-Ass but I'd be happy with him playing Spider-Man because he's a great actor! I'm not a huge fan of Yelchin and dont think he looks right for this role though.

AIRBEYONDER @ Hell yeah!!!

Heck we should have a petition to lose the TEENIE BOP REBOOT and have a REBOOT CONTINUATION (SPIDER-MAN 4) or just bring back SPIDEY 4 as normal!!!
claybo4131
claybo4131 - 6/11/2010, 2:54 PM
Blake Lively looks worse with that then she will with Black hair in Green Lantern. NO NO NO, No more Blake Lively for any comic roles, she better not ever be Cheetara or Princess Zelda EVER

claybo4131 - 6/11/2010, 2:55 PM
Well I wonder who at Sony has been drinking the funny kool-aid and smoking the wacky tobacky to think that this reboot is a great idea?

just throwing an idea the "reboot" should be the ultimate spider-man version. like that who'll go watch it and saw the other 3 and never read the comic won't get confused.

@Sweetre15 - eh... no I think the original stories are "cannon" as far as that goes in comics. At least the ones by the original teams (lee, dittko, romita). I mean, those are the stories that facilitated Spidey becoming a household name, and they are the great common ground for most fans. Besides that I just never got the Ultimate Green Goblin. I did like some ultimate spider-man stuff, though. I'm not saying you shouldn't use any ideas from the series.

Logan Lerman first, but i'm all for Aaron Johnson, he can play both characters just fine by me, i really don't see a conflict imo. and i really want to see and Ultimate Spider-Man done, even if as a cartoon.

i wonder who here would like to or mind seeing an Ultimate Spider-Man take with this remake or at least an animated movie?
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 6/11/2010, 2:58 PM
LEE: Lol, Peter Parker and Dave Lizewski are different enough characters that I dont think the similarities are all that big of a deal! I too would prefer a Spider-Man 4 continuation with new actors or a reboot in the style of The Incredible Hulk but it's not going to happen unfortunately! ;( We'll just have to hope they do this right and if not, who gives a shit? 2012 is the year of The Avengers buddy! :D

Animated ultimate spider-man would be fine, but I basically want this movie to be EXACTLY like the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon in characterization and tone. They nailed it.

Anton Yelchin was the worst part of the perfect movie that is Star Trek

Aaron Johnson is the best choice for Spider-Man! I would be okay with Yelchin even though he is perfect for Harry.
