Dave Bentley over at The Coventry Telegraph recently spoke Mei Melancon about her role as Psylocke in Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand and below are some excerpts from the interview. For the whole thing, where the actress goes into a lot more detail about being cast in the role and her thoughts on the movie, just click the link at the bottom of this page!

On Whether She'd Play Psylocke Again In A Future X-Men Movie:

"Whether I am part of X-Men again or not, I would love to see Psylocke come back. I think she is a great character that has had really interesting reincarnations over the years, many of which would play out great in film. If fans want a character enough I am sure the studio will bring them in at some point."

On Whether She Was Playing Psylocke Or Kwannon:

"Psylocke is pretty popular, so when fans or journalists express their disappointment I totally understand and I have acknowledged this frustration in past interviews. But honestly - from a personal place - I was pretty happy to be in the movie in whatever capacity."

"There was discussion that she was Kwannon or possibly other characters too, but I can't comment on the final choice made. There were certain aspects of her that were true to Psylocke: the red tattoo from Crimson Dawn, and the purple hair - though it was obviously shorter. Outfit-wise - and this is my personal opinion only - if she was standing there in her usual skintight outfit - which I do find sexy and would have been so stoked to wear - it might not have matched the tone or what the other characters were wearing."

On The Negative Reaction Fans Had To The Movie:

"Anyway, overall the film did very well, right? So they obviously did something right. I know a lot of people - maybe not hardcore X-Men fans but the general public - enjoyed their 12 bucks' worth.

Anyway, overall the film did very well, right? So they obviously did something right. I know a lot of people - maybe not hardcore X-Men fans but the general public - enjoyed their 12 bucks' worth. You know, I sometimes wish that fans could be a fly on the wall during the making of films like this, I'm sure they would get why certain decisions have to be made. What I saw was a lot of commitment from the writers, producers and director to make the best film possible."

On X-Men: First Class:

"I think Matthew Vaughn makes great films. I really loved Layer Cake. And, yes, I am excited. I have a friend Edi Gathegi who is going to be in it, he's such a unique talented actor and a lovely guy and I'm excited to see what he and the other actors bring to their roles."

That pop up vid for No Ordinary Family is really annoying and it keeps eating up my broadband cap :(

I think Captain America TFA is looking way more interesting than this X-Men movie.

I'd love to see her get another crack at playing Psylocke.

She's hot enough, a pretty decent actress and she seems to have a good knowlegde and understanding of the character.

More than most, anyways...

Nice find Josh!

Hey, I just thought, didn't she get killed in FOX's twisted storyline in her 15 seconds of screen time?!?

How can she come back anyways?

$12 worth my ass. I assume she isn't aware that the bulk of X3's take was from people who loved/liked the first two films, expecting the dipshits to carrying on the momentum.
I wonder how awesome the bottom line would be on X3 if there was a refund policy in place.

dont know if to take her serious after this comment

"Anyway, overall the film did very well, right? So they obviously did something right. I know a lot of people - maybe not hardcore X-Men fans but the general public - enjoyed their 12 bucks' worth."

well the general public still hated the movie even tho they spend 12 bucks. also X-Men 3 ride the back of the other sequels of cause it will make money the general public thought it would be good as the previous movies.

@LEEE777

actually u dont see her die Psylocke was of the screen so u cant tell if she die or not.

Mei Melancon is an awesome actress, she should get a second shot at playing Psylocke. I LOVED how Psylocke looked in X3 it definitely fitted the tone of the movie and was modernised .. like all the characters were.

MEI MELANCONN <3

@gusto i'm not in the hater camp of Wolverine either, just tried not to take it too seriously.

But Psylocke is like my all time favorite X-Men lady. I think it goes back to this '90's something wallposter calendar that has her toweling off after a shower, one foot on the toilet. Not to mention she could mind eff you in a heartbeat.

She was wasted in X-Men 3 and is unfortunately yet another example of Fox just throwing in a random character as a cameo, hoping that it'll keep fans happy, despite the fact they pretty much crap all over the comic book version in the process! (*cough*Deadpool*cough*) It's a pity, as Melancon is both a very beautiful and talented actress...[frick] Fox. :P

i was p!$$ed that they killed cyclops, left the ending open where your like well whats going on with the professor?,i hated how they did the juggernaught, and colossus didnt get to fight the juggernaught, also beast was a human in the x-2 film or looked human and all the sudden he is blue no charactyers build, and nightcralwer ,and gambit were not in x-3 these things really angred me. now in first class none of the popular x-men will be in it. and beak and other interesting muitants like chamber, husk, glob herman, mammomax, anole, rockslide, sinister, and apocalypse will not be in it either, and great stories like night of the sentinels, and days of future past are not being used. instead they just keep cramming unknown dumb mutants into it and will probably be action in every scene instead of great story, and characters build up like x-men 1, and x-men 2.fox sucks, and marvel needs the right s back to x-men so we get some good x-men films.

Man the fact that we even have to debate who a character was in a movie we should probably go back to the drawing board. I mean what is this @$%^&!!!!. Emma Frost is gonna be in "First Class", and i use the title very lightly, because that weak character in Wolverine is now supposed supposed to be another Emma with diamond hard skin that rubs on cyclopes. I mean seriously FOX you have all these mutants fans obviously love and your gonna try to recycle them. This all started with Brian Singer's travesty that he called the first two X-men. It's very simple kids the x-men are about teamwork and diversity that's why the team is from all parts of the world WITH ACCENTS!
