Smallville Producer Talks About How Darkseid Will Appear Throughout The Final Season!

Brian Peterson talks about introducing the villain as "a dark force" and discusses whether or not we'll see him finally revealed as an actor or with CGI...

"We're really introducing Darkseid in a different way...as a dark force," he revealed in a recent interview with TV Guide. "He is kind of a parallel to evil that will start to overtake the world and sends hearts and souls towards a darker agenda."

The producer then went on to talk about how the iconic DC villain will for now be represented just by his minions, the Harbingers, in future episodes: "We're personifying the Harbingers. Like Granny Goodness. Desaad makes a couple of quick appearances, as does Gordon Godfrey, so we're not going to actually see the embodiment of Darkseid himself for a while. We're saving that."

"That part I can't really promise because we have yet to completely break the end of the season," Peterson said when asked whether or not Darkseid will be portrayed by either an actor or via CGI. "But what I can say is that I think his appearance will be a great payoff to what we've planted."

I quote Lex Luthor from Superman Returns: "BRING IT ON!"

Hey, what do you say, grif?

Yeah, that's what I thought you'd say.

Glad someone put a bit more lighting in that picture so you can actually see darkseid more! Should be good, Darkseid is Darkseid.

LMAO Ed! :D One of these days, he'll finally admit to watching (and perhaps even liking) the show!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with Darkseid though. Personally, I'd like to see his story arc wrapped up in time to give Clark and Lex the proper confrontation we've all been waiting, and hoping, for. As long as they get Michael Rosenbaum back that is!

Guys, check out my AVENGERS ACADEMY Fan Cast! Just click the link! :)

Nice clarifying of the DARKSEID picture, JOSH@!

I like the idea of not too much Darkseid exposure!
He "SHOULD" be a mysterious being, a force of evil!
I want them to wait till the movies to reveal him completely!

I think even Clark is being influenced by the dark
force of DARKSEID'S presence! He seemed a bit more
vicious and angry than his usual self when he was
strangling the old LEX clone!

I think it was DARKSEID'S influence even on big-
boyscout Clark Kent! Everyone will be influenced by
the "DARK SIDE" before everything is said and done!

Like you and Lex said Ed@ (LOL), "BRING IT ON!!!"
;)

Keeping Darkseid in the shadows is the way to go. Think about Spielberg's Jaws -- hide the shark until absolutely necessary, and by the time it does pop its head out of the water, it's pretty terrifying.

I'm not overly impressed with what he looks like but as was pointed out to me it is a tv show with a limited budget. I'm just hoping for a kick ass story line for him and i'm with JoshW rap it up so that there will be a good Lex story. I thought the Lex clone story was done very well in the first episode. I mean that dude nailed a Rosenbaum performance.

Shadows for sure. Have Michael ironside voice him and Renee aberjunous play desaad. Those would be huge nods to the fans and make darsied scarier than a man in a suit.

this is gonna be so f*cking shit.

1.clark kent vs darkseid, its taken him 10 years to put on the costume & fly......but his ready to take on a god.

2.keeping darkseid in the shadows, why is the cgi that f*cking bad.

bring the superman reboot,i need to see a decent version of the man of steel.

This could be like the Cloverfield formula. I will give him a chance. It could turn out like...dare I say it, Doomsday. Thing is, he looks too ghoulish, reminds me of the Galactus Cloud, and could just appear as a human; because he may take any form.
If we can get Parademons and the whole family on screen fighting Superman, this could be pretty wack. I'll watch the episode, but I'm gonna be biting onto something.

I'm with ya man. Its the last season, lets stop beating a dead horse. We all know the show is farrr from perfect. So lets just take it for what it is, our current Superman fix until Nolan gets his ass in gear!

All this is gravy. There is a good version of all our favorite hero's/villains in the comics. You will enjoy them. Plus I think your ready to move on from coloring books ;)

I could accept this show as an Elseworlds tale, but it has taken too goddamn long and indulged itself, taking itself way too serious.

Gotta disagree with you Intruder. As a very long time fan of both Hawkman and Green Arrow I approve of both of those versions.

Giving someone wings is almost impossible to do right. People don't have wings and no matter what they look like people will scream 'fake'. Of course it is [frick]ing fake.

Hawkman was simply excellent. He got the character right and he looked far better that even I expected. People who want more live in some fantasy land. He even overcame the fact that he was well-known to me as an actor. I forgot about SG-1 after about 4 lines out of his mouth.
HankAce
HankAce - 9/27/2010, 2:28 PM
Not that my opinion matters but I'm gonna have to agree with TheDarqueOne on this. Hawkman was terrifically adapted for live action.

@Intruder And what was so comical about him Intruder??
