First Picture Of X-Men: First Class Jekyll Island Shooting Location!

First Picture Of X-Men: First Class Jekyll Island Shooting Location!

A distant shot gives us our first glimpse of the sandy location they're using in Georgia but Fox might face legal action for the extensive work they're doing there...

Apparently, no permit was issued for Fox's use of the land and there was no public hearing was held giving residents the chance to comment on the action before it was approved and started. As Savannah Morning News report, "The approved activities involve the use of heavy equipment in the dune field and beach to move tons of sand and dramatically alter the area in creating a site location." Here is a photo of that very location:

It's not clear whether or not these legal issues will end up affecting filming on X-Men: First Class but it's also reported that the, "..operation of heavy equipment to excavate the landscape, crossing the dune field with temporary roads built for the proposed uses, and imposing significant burdens on the beach are being allowed." It's this that is being frowned upon!

More interestingly though is what it might be that they're filming in such a location. What do you think the above set might end up being in the upcoming movie from Matthew Vaughn? be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

X-Men: First Class is set to be released on June 3, 2011!

Well, I wouldnt normally bother posting something like this but there's literally not been a new piece of news posted (either on CBM or any other site) during the 13/14 hours since I was last online so when I came across this, I thought it might be interesting to speculate what they may be using the location for... Plus, I love the fact that things are going wrong for Fox during the production of this film. As you should all know by now, I hate those [frick]ers. :)

How exactly is this not news? It's the first picture of a location that's supposed to involve a pretty big action sequence. (according to some online rumours) You guys could always stop whining and start actually posting news yourselves if it really bothers you that much...

Josh, you have deleted a few of my comments recently, a very very amateurish way of dealing with things. Your an Editor here and i think saying things like "I love the fact that things are going wrong for Fox during the production of this film" shows a very narrow minded and very immature attitude, but it's your right to have that as it should be our right to give our opinions without you hitting the delete button when you don't like it. That style of Journalism is only bad for this great site, surely?

deadpool72: Hehe, thanks buddy! :)

MarvelousMarty: Yeah, I've deleted a couple of whiney and abusive comments but not yours! I didnt even see it I'm afraid, although I'm guesssing Lansdowne5 was replying to you as I couldnt quite work out what he was on about... Either way, I've been doing this for a while now and dont need your advice on being an editor - on a slow news morning, I judged that this was an interesting enough piece of news to post because I know for a fact that there are plenty of people who are interested in seeing and discussing movie locations regardless of the amount of detail they show. Why does that bother you so much exactly? There's no need to comment surely if it doesnt interest you?

Lansdowne5: While I'm tempted to listen to someone who spent months spamming numerous comment sections with "BOYCOTT THE AVENGERS" in giant letters advice about being a "quality reporter", I'll pass with you thanks. And are you seriously trying to say that just because I post news on this site, I'm not allowed to share my opinion in the comments section? [frick] that.

@Josh: then my original post just disappeared so I apologise for assuming you had deleted it. I was debating your "f**k Fox" remarks as I understood this to be a forum of debate, sorry to offend.

MarvelousMarty: None taken - I appreciate the feedback (so excuse my slightly snarky tone above, lol) and my comment about this article only being posted because of my dislike of Fox was really only an offhand remark made for the benefit of my fellow "[frick] Fox" commenters! :) I found the set picture a little intriguing...maybe that's just me though because as I'm sure you might remember from my constant Captain America set photos posts, I like this sort of thing!

I hope FOX gets sued. Serves them right after they've ruined all my favorite MARVEL characters. Typical studio to think they can do whatever they want. Now can we get MARVEL to reboot this franchise & do it right once & for all?

AdamMichaels - 11/19/2010, 8:04 AM
Any chance this might be the Savage Land?

Only one reason I want this movie to flop (as well as Wolverine). And that is it might push FOX to relinquish the rights to the X-Men franchise back to Marvel Studios/Disney. They might realize that the franchise has been drained and that there is no more serious money to be made from it anymore.
ThoroughbredSteele0
ThoroughbredSteele0 - 11/19/2010, 8:19 AM
@adam micheals, that my hope as well, cause I think fox will only give up the rights are if they see the x-men as a toxic asset. but more than likely it wont happen until after jackmans done playing wolverine. as long as he (Jackman) wants to keep doing it fox will keep the rights.

here is the exact location:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=jekyll+island&ie=UTF8&hl=en&hq=&hnear=Jekyll+Island,+Thalmann,+Glynn,+Georgia+31527&ll=31.061022,-81.405194&spn=0.004853,0.008883&t=h&z=17

We vacation there yearly. My understanding they were going to use the northern part of the island and not this part of the beach. I also wonder if this is part of the redevelopment of the island and not the movie set... or a bit of both.

The name jekyll island gives it a truly interesting and thrilling undertone, and as for the set pics themselves, it really reminds me of the the ending beach shore scenes in the closing of Wolverine Origins.

These people have to get off their high horses. Its a beach, the sand can be moved back. Man cannot hurt planet Earth or cause global warming. The Earth will always recover and does recover. Where is all the oil from the gulf oil spill, its gone. Mother nature took care of it, she will take care of the beach. F-in environmentalists.

lol, Number 21 I'm all for conservation, but you're right. lol For God's sake the moon formed when Earth collided with another [frick]ing planet the size of Mars. It’s been frozen, fried, poisoned from gases so deep and in such great quantities from inside itself that the seas nearly turned acid, nearly all plant life and animal life has been wiped out a half dozen times, yet she rebounds... Still she keeps on going. I think ecologist fret too much about the fragility of the planet. We may go, but it doesn't mean she will. Mother Earth will still be spinning when we are long gone and the squid has evolved to take our place.
