At an industry event last night for the upcoming release of his film Inception on Blu-ray and DVD, Nolan addressed the latest rumors about the return of the late Heath Ledger's Joker and also confirmed that Tom Hardy will be in the highly anticipated movie. Here's an excerpt from the report over at indieWIRE:

But he wouldn’t say what the story’s about or who the villain is, other than to confirm that Inception’s Tom Hardy will play "a key role, not saying good or bad," and to shoot down reports that he’ll resurrect The Joker by including unused footage of Heath Ledger’s performance in the previous chapter. "That’s all wrong," said the writer-director.


I'm not sure about you guys, but I'm guessing that Christopher Nolan must loathe the rumor mill because he seems to spend most of his time clearing up the mostly nonsensical rumours that start circulating online! The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released on July 30, 2012!

tom hardy is a great actor check him out in the film "bronson",its a good film.

i think its about time we found out who the villain is.

black mask or hush would be awesome as the main villain & deadshot as a back up

I'm glad their not pullin sum bs terminator 4 schwarzenegger cgi for the joker..I luv the dark knight and Heaths performance.To put a fake version in would be to start f#$king up the franchise which they'll prlly do anyway once nolan leaves.Its fact hollywood just wants to make money at the expense of keepin what makes the movies great.I bet the 3rd jawn is goin to be EPIC!:)

He wouldn't have to hear all the "rumors" if he wasn't so secretive about his films....... He really can't just announce who the badguy/baddies are? Or the actors in the running? He knows who he wants and he's had to have narrowed down the villain/s long ago... He doesn't have to reveal plot, just names.
