Composer Hans Zimmer Will Score Superman: The Man Of Steel!

In an interview with NBC San Diego, the composer revealed that he's been hired to provide the score for the upcoming Superman movie that will be directed by Zack Snyder. Chech out what he had to say about reinventing a new iconic sound for the reboot.

"It’s a hard one, but I followed one of the most iconic things on Batman with Chris as well, and it’s the same thing. You are allowed to reinvent, but you have to try to be as good or at least as iconic and it has to resonate and it has to become a part of the zeitgeist. That’s the job. On Gladiator I remember people always talking about Spartacus and I kept telling them, ‘When you saw Spartacus and how it affected it you, that’s how I want a modern audience to be affected by what we do now.’ So I think ultimately you’re supposed to reinvent."

As you can hear from his brilliant Batman score in the below video, there's no doubting that they've made a great choice by going with the man who's collaborated with Chris Nolan on everything from Batman Begins to Inception!

A) This was released a while back. It's kind of old.
B) He never said he was scoring it. He was replying to a question; "Do you think whomever scores Superman should keep the John Williams theme?"

What I was stating in the second comment was that it was Josh who posted the original article. At first I thought he was unaware of the first article until I looked it up and found that he was the one who posted it. And OH MY GOD I POSTED 2 COMMENTS?! WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?! I MUST BE LIKE REALLY PRETURBED!

As long as it ain't Tyler Bates, the composer Zack Snyder usually works with. From what I figure, that composer basically ripped off Elliot Goldenthal's Titus score for 300! I don't want a copy cat for Superman... buh... John Ottman's score was awesome huh... forget what I said. Actually I thought John Ottman did a great job on Superman Returns. I just don't have any trust in Tyler Bates so I'm actually glad about Mr. Epic Hans Zimmer doing the next Superman. Should be very interesting!

This is awesome news!!! I loved the whole soundtrack to The Dark Knight. At least we now know something will be epic about this movie.

@LEEE777 Dude keeping the same score will connect it to the other films and they already said that this movie is not going to have any ties to the others. But still it and the Star Wars theme will always be epic!!!

Just seems like your trying to one up him chill out sir I'm sure that Josh knows what he is doing. He doesn't need to the Article Posting Police (you) to be on his every move. Maybe some people didn't see the original article?

BATMAN ZIMMER SCORE..YOU KNOW I ALMOST TOTALLY FORGOT HOW THE OLD ONE WENT BECAUSE THE DARKNIGHT STORY WAS SO ENGROSSING THAT IT AND THE MUSIC JUST BECAME THE "IT". SUPERMAN THEME SONG IS A TRULY ICONIC THEME SONG KNOWN THE WORLD OVER..IF YOU WANT A NEW SONG, IT BETTER BE REALLY REALLY GOOD..SERIOUSLY..ITS ONE OF THE THEME SONGS YOU DON'T MESS WITH, LIKE STARWARS OR INDIANA JONES...I REALLY HOPE HE DOES A GOOD ONE.

Dynamo: Although I've already reported a similar quote from Zimmer (I post so much on CBM, I honestly cant remember stories I put up months ago to be perfectly honest) Collider, and several other credible sites, are reporting this as new news and confirmation that he's doing the score for Superman. I just report what I see and it's pretty clear that this is NEW to the majority of users here either way. It's up to you guys to confirm or debunk these stories. :)

@JoshW
I didn't mean to correct your double post so much as to just debunk this whole Zimmer thing.
Alot of sites seem to think that Zimmer is composing but judging by the quote he isn't. And take into account that they haven't cast or shot anything and that he'll also be working on TDKR first then it'd be pretty unlikely.

Think of it this way, would you have wanted the Danny Elfman 1989 theme for Batman Begins?
spiderneil
spiderneil - 12/1/2010, 1:57 PM
the big difference is the sound track for superman is ICONIC, more so than batman or spider-man.

This sounds okay, but I love the John Williams theme the most.
cole33

the JW Superman theme has become THE superman theme.

they've changed james bonds, changed how the movies were done, but they kept the bond theme, because its' the bond theme.

they can do the same for supes, I don't attribute the superman theme to the donner films, I attribute the theme to SUPERMAN.
Ryden
Ryden - 12/1/2010, 2:02 PM
He's a good composer, but his Batman score doesn't even TOUCH the Elfman Batman theme.....that just defines Batman for me. It's epic.
spiderneil
spiderneil - 12/1/2010, 2:07 PM
when I think of batman I have the zimmer score in my head rather than the elfman score.

the williams score IS superman. if zimmer doesn't use at least parts of it then it will feel flat. go buck wild with an original score but (imho) the movie has to open with the williams score and close with the williams score
