Nick Hoult Says Beast Transformation Takes Four Hours Of Prosthetics!

The young actor talks briefly about when filming comes to an end on the prequel and also discusses the beastly process of transforming into the furry blue mutant...

While promoting the "Giving Tree" charity (which aims to make sure that thousands of vulnerable and needy children have a present to open on Christmas Day) in Wokingham, the actor was asked how work is progressing on the Fox prequel and revealed that filming is not only over but that histransformation into Beast takes four hours a day. Oh my stars and garters!

"It’s going well, it’s a lot of fun. We are coming towards the end of filming but there is still a fair bit to do."

"Some days it can be four hours getting the prosthetics and stuff on. We should be finished just before Christmas."

X-Men: First Class is set to be released on June 3, 2011 and is directed by Matthew Vaughn.

So he's going to look like an animal in this? Did they do any research for this movie?
Seriously EFF this movie, I'd rather watch my dog poop.

So, if this movie is set in...I dont know...let's say 1965 for arguments sake and Hoult's Beast is at least 20, that would make the version we saw in X-Men 3 almost 70!? And people wonder why I [frick]ing hate Fox. :P

Brashlight - 12/2/2010, 12:36 PM
I think they really need to answer some questions because this lack of information on this movie and its setting is really starting to piss people off....Your honor i give you evidence item number 1....Shaman, Joker13, LEE777, JoshW, TANKGIRL, patriautism, deadpool72, just to name a few....lol....and i am definitely one of them too!

@Josh...I believe X3 would probably be set somewhere in early 2000...So that should make him in his 50s...Not that it make a difference.

@Shaman...I'm not as big a Fox/X-men movie hater as the other guy, but what gripes me about this movie is the continuation. They've stated that it is a prequel to the original X-movies, same as Wolverine Origins being a prequel. Yet some of the stuff that we're seeing is contradictory. So Beast is gonna be blue & furry, but in X2 he's human. So what gives?...

Ya know, I'm kind of surprised at the amount of hate this movie is getting. We haven't seen any clips, read any scripts, or heard negative buzz from the set; yet every time there's a snippet of First Class news, the fans are like "Bat Nipples!" I could understand it if Brett Ratner or Joel Schumacher was at the helm, but it's Matthew Vaughn who, in my opinion, has yet to produce a steaming pile of anything.

When is wolverine movie set because emma was a teenage prisoner in that movie and an adult villian in this
and prof.x looked old and was bald
Knightstalker
Knightstalker - 12/2/2010, 12:42 PM
Everyone is annoyed with this movie because of the apparently EXTREME lack of continuity with previous movies even though the producers were calling it a prequel to the first three X-Men movies. Funny thing how some people expect a quality product.
Denn1s
Denn1s - 12/2/2010, 12:43 PM
@armageddon26

it has been stated that in first class emma is the mother of emma in origins. and subsequently mother of silverfox and mother-in-law of wolvie...yay! the main wolverine origins plot was set during vietnam when they join stryker's team. the rest of the plot with weapon x is some time later. probably 4-5 years. so it is set during the 70s. after first class.

I think your math is off there, Josh.

2006 - 1965 = 41.

If he plays a teen in the movie (as was suggested when the other guy was let go for "looking" too old to be a student...)

...he'd be in his 50's in X3 (as was Kelsey Grammer when he played the role.)
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 12/2/2010, 12:53 PM
MaxJaybo: You know, considering I'm doing a degree that includes Maths, I probably should have realised that. :P Regardless, this movie is still a stupid mess. And it is for that reason, I must echo my good friend deadpool72's above comment - "everything else sucks hairy balls,f*ck fox the ceo's are a bunch of gay retards"

'Nuff said.

Brashlight: Thank God for that avatar distracting me or I'd be forced to make the effort of heading out to my garage and going a few rounds with my punch bag...which just happens to have Bryan Singer's face on it. :D

Shaman: Lol, dont remind me! Small things like that I can cope with...it's all these other ridiculous changes and continuity errors that drive me to madness! As much as I complain about stuff like that though, it's the fact that First Class could have been a great way of breathing new life into the franchise and also a chance to show the origins of the original team. Instead, it's Fox once again doing as they like and throwing in shit characters like Angel [frick]ing Salvadore. :(

Funny that age makes no difference in the comics but the second we hit the big screen everything's all linear all of a sudden. Haha...I do agree with the comments about the lineage though...it doesn't match up at all and Fox does need to explain better than it's not a reboot or a sequel...
ComradeGrey
ComradeGrey - 12/2/2010, 1:56 PM
It has come to the point where bitching about the necessity of a prequel, the inaccuracies of the timeline, the negligence of FUX to its properties, etc. are worthless. The most we can do now is hope that Matthew Vaughan gives us a good movie, regardless of how FUX has failed us.
Aronofsky has the right idea, completely ignore than any of the other continuity has happened.

Josh & Shaman: I am by no means sticking up for FOX when I say this but you do know that Hank wore a mask of his original face in public for quite a while after he was trasformed into his furry blue state in the comics? Maybe THAT is what we actually witnessed in X-Men.

Just sayin.

@Frogman...

"I know they haven't pulled as major stinkers as Fox but the whole recasting things just ain't right."

You cannot force people to stick with roles that is just a fact of life in Hollywood. Norton could have accepted the deal he was offered but he did not. His choice not Marvel's.

Brashlight - 12/2/2010, 2:36 PM

I am so confused with all the crap from this movie. so i take it ALL continuity that has been set with either the previous movies and the comics has been thrown completely out the window
JackBauer
JackBauer - 12/2/2010, 2:46 PM
Alright people, I'm still pissed off at fox for that 15 million dollar lawsuit but I'm starting to get irritated with people who scream continuity but don't seem to know their X-books.

First, let's get past the fact that he's starting off blue and furry. He is more interesting this way which is why they are using him in this form.

Now the explanation for his cameo in X2 is simple. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED IN THE COMICS!!!! He started off looking human, so to speak. Thru an accident he became blue and furry. In the early issues of X-Factor he reverted back to his "human" form. This lasted for almost 3 years before reverting back to the blue and furry appearance he has today.

This is obviously what happened in the movies and he will probably even start off looking human and "evolve" when his mutation kicks in.
