After releasing several designs featuring both Superman and Dommsday, visual effects artist Steve Johnson has now released video of how the suit from Superman Lives was supposed to look on the big screen. In case you didnt already know, Nicholas Cage was set play the Man of Steel in the 90's, until the film was dumped by Warner Bros.



Superman Lives is thankfully set to be released sometime never. :)

Its just a prototype, it would have been much better on film LOL! : p

Tim Burton is on drugs! This would have been a disaster. All of his films look exactly the same conceptually. Even his puppet ones. Good lord I'm glad this was never made.

Josh, this is a fantastic find. Don't get me wrong, the suit sucks as does this whole concept for Superman, but it's a fantastic find. Well done.

ugh i think I just barfed a little....but to be honest it might have been interesting to see tim burton's take the big blue boyscout, maybe if he made an animated movie we could get a general idea of the direction he was going with having our heads implode, hell i'd even be down to hear Nic Cage voice supes.......maybe.....hmmmm.....nevermind

And LEE... Welling IS 10 times better than Cage would've been, Burton clearly has no idea of what makes Superman Superman.
@ Mugwamp so based on your comment, That Alice in Wonderland movie he made recently is practically the same film as Batman 1989?
This costume belongs in a Power Rangers Movie, along with the Green Goblin from Spider-Man: The Movie...

Think the suits not bad looking...but not for Superman, very not for Superman. As for Burton movies, I'm a fan, and no they don't all look the same(watch Pee Wee, Big Fish, Planet of the Apes). But at the same time I don't think he could do a proper Superman movie.
