More From James McAvoy And Michael Fassbender On Professor X And Magneto!

In yet another preview of their X-Men: First Class set visit, IGN Movies have been kind enough to reveal what both James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender had to say about their respective roles as Charles Xavier (Professor X) and Erik Lensherr. (Magneto) For more, make sure to head on over to the site by clicking on the link below.

James McAvoy On Charles Xavier

"It's set in a completely different time and you are also taking these people to a much earlier point in their personal development as well as their physical and super development. What's fun is you get to figure out who they were. For me Charles is a monk. He's like a selfless, egoless, almost sexless force for the betterment of humanity and mortality. And getting to kind of go 'Well, he's got to be different from that' is quite fun because the complete opposite is an ego-fuelled, sexed-up, self-serving dude. And we've not gone too far from that... he's definitely got an ego and he's definitely got a sex drive as well."

"Charles has this sort of empathy for everybody. He has this connection to everybody because he can feel and see their experiences; their memories are his memories. But he wasn't looking for Erik; he didn't know he was there and he suddenly felt Erik and perhaps he has never connected to anybody quite the same way that he connected to Erik, you know? Maybe because of the nature of the horrible things that happened to him and the level of anger that he carries. That makes a big impression on him, not just because he feels empathy for him, but also because it's a big challenge to fix someone and to try to help someone like that."

Michael Fassbender On Magneto

"I don't really think in terms of good and evil. I think about what he wants to get and how motivated he is and what sort of morals he has got in place. It's like I see him very much as a Machiavellian character. The end justifies the means. And you know, he is in a situation where he is really right!"

X-Men: First Class is set to be released on June 3, later this year!

Yea, it's practically the same interview that we've all read a hundred times. I'm also getting really tired of McAvoy comparing Xavier to a sexless monk. I know he's trying to be metaphorical and shit but that just proves that he doesn't get the character. Xavier always had some poon on the side, at least he did when I used to read X-Men. All he has to say is that he's selfless.

Gah! Please Josh, I can't look at those posters anymore! Everything else about this movie, including what these guys are saying here, has sounded/looked great too me.

"Whaaaat? But there is no Jean and Cyclops, you are not a true X-Men fan!"

Yeah, whatever, get over it.

I gotta agree about the posters. I have staunchly defended everything about this movie against the baseless criticisms, and have gotten to the point that I'm way more intrigued by this than the others, but the new posters/images are just flat out bad.

Lol people are getting mad at the actors for saying the same thing when they should be getting mad at the people interviewing them for asking the same [frick]ing questions over and over again.

I look forward to this film more each day.

I doubt they're the official posters. I saw some pretty good official posters on Empire's web-site.

I'm looking forward to seeing new interptations of Charles and Erik. As good as Patrick Strewart and Ian McKellen were, I felt by the third one their performances felt old and worn. Also I have faith that Vaughan will bring an entertaining movie, plus I think it's a great idea to set this in the 60s.

everything about this movie screams "we don't know what the hell we are doing!!!!" especially the promotional campaign...even if this film is raved by critics it still won't do well with merchandising...they don't know how to sell this film....no kid is going to go to the toy store and ask mommy for that action figure of xaivier, looking like a regular white dude in a yellow diver suit...see if they had the real first class merchandise would sell like hot cakes...fox is so stupid

Maybe their goal is to make a great movie for adults. Not sell toys to kids. Switch on your cartoons if that's what you're interested in.
