Possible Superman Plot Details & Synopsis Leaked; Metallo To Be The Villain?

Here is what Movienewz claim to have been told by an anonymous source. There's a lot of information here, and no reason to doubt their word. The following certainly seems to fit with what we've heard from both director Zack Snyder and the various actors involved, but as with any rumor, it's best to take it with a pinch of salt for the time being!

General Sam Lane, the father of Lois Lane, is a central figure in director Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot. This really is as Zack described in several interviews about the film, a “real world” Superman. I’m told that when Superman arrives on the scene; people don’t know what to think. He’s an alien from another planet. What are his real intentions? He’s not human and that scares a lot of people. Here’s a guy who can fly, see through walls, is bullet proof and can lift a tank. The military views him as a potential threat to national security. They find kryptonite, pieces of his home planet, and discover its radioactive elements can be harnessed as a near unlimited source of power, both literally and figuratively. It’s a brand new form of energy that is secretly developed by the government. The military, under the direction of General Sam Lane, uses kryptonite to power an experimental cyborg super solider named Metallo. He’s ultimately exploited as a weapon against Superman.

And here is the brief synopsis of the movie which the site describe as an origin story which bares little resemblance to Richard Donner’s Superman: The Movie and its sequels.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Pretty interesting, I think you'll agree! Metallo may seem like an odd choice, but the various ways in which he has been portrayed in the comic books over the years would certainly give Snyder freedom in turning him into a formidable foe for the Man of Steel. Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

Starring Henry Cavill as Superman and Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Superman: The Man of Steel is expected to be released sometime during the Winter of 2012!

Sounds good. Hopefully, Metallo will be a minor villain setting up for Brainiac at the end.

Frickin' hate Metallo. However, what do they have to work with. Most of Superman's villains are stupid.

@TheGoddamnSuperGuy- Are you so eagerly awaiting a reason to lose faith in this movie you'd do it over an unconfirmed and more than likely completely bullshit plot that Goyer and Nolan had no hand in?

sounds predictable, superman comes, tries to impress, military doesnt like him, sends shit after him to try and kill him,I agree with the HULK guy,its been done,so i sense bullshit,I hope,I dont see how this could be a 2 hour film with metallo as the villian

ye it does kinda sound like hulk on all levels. but i just hope they build upon it in an original form and use other villains and still incorporate some of the mystical aspects of this amazing hero

I agree with the real world approach. The government would definitely be all over him... This could be friggin' epic.

Metallo could have an epic origin. Called this one, hopping for Sam Worthington.

He's not on the run 4rm the military so its not exactly like hulk.Sounds like they may be pulling a green lantern and borrowing 4rm secret origins throw in billionaire Lex and maybe it could work.

I do agree with the "been there". Hulk has already done this. It was done well, but I want something more.

I mean, people can say it's different because Superman's power can cause so much on screen destruction, but there ALSO, Hulk showed a [frick] ton of power and destruction.

And also, isn't the story predictable from the moment you hear about it??

-Government tries to control main character
-Finds a way by using a formidable opponent against him
-Daughter tries to stop General father
-General father is movie military douche 101. Doesn't Listen
-Guy goes rogue because of power/internal struggle
-Main character wins final bout
-Government realizes mistake
-Everyone's happy
-cameo of sequel's villain (maybe Lex)

while it does sounds similar to hulk(IF ITS REAL)its scope and action will be much more epic and spectacular then hulk showing up at the park and on the street at the end

Casper Van Dien can make an awesome villain role playing Metallo/John Corben. He hasn't played a villain in his life. Bruce Greenwood "The Core", "Racing Stripes", "8 Below" can make an awesome role playing Lois Lane's father General Sam Lane in the upcoming Man of Steel film. I choosed him to play Lois's father stationed at Metropolis Air Force Base

As long as it isn't the Zod or Luthor, I will end up renting it. If it is Zod or Luthor I will wait and watch it for free.

I never really understood why Metallo was so difficult for Superman to take out. All he needs to do is float above him at a safe distance and use his heat ray vision to melt his arms and legs off. I would love to see Brainiac or The Parasite or maybe even Toyman. Metallo seems too much like the Terminator with a kryptonite power source.
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 4/3/2011, 8:08 PM
sounds cool,I hope the plot would be more complicated than that thou
and no Lex Luthor? maybe his company can be in charge of the creation of Metallo for the military

I just stoked to see superman fighting hand to hand combat with some type of humanoid entity, instead of just catching and carrying really heavy things.

I'd love to see Metallo brought to the big screen, but they should replace General Lane with Lex Luthor as the one behind his creation.

@Whovian what are you talking about? Superman has a great rogues gallery Brainiac, Bizarro, Parasite, Darkseid, Mongul, Intergang, Imperiex, Livewire, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Toyman, DOOMSDAY all of which haven't appeared in a movie yet.

okay..to all of you who REALLY want to find something to hate and calling it "predictable"..isn't the Superman story alone...PREDICTABLE?

What's the matter with pulling this approach to a character who wears freaking Blue, Red, and Yellow spandex?! ..which by the way, he'll BE in SPANDEX..knowing how TRUE TO THE COMICS Snyder's work looks..SPANDEX it is..he'll look TRUE AS HELL to the comic. PLUS! You all do remember how visually stunning Snyder's work is? That alone, can make the 'predictable' story, look AND FEEL different than other similar 'predictable' movies.

@Theshadow - Sam Worthington would be a great choice for Metallo

I'd like to see Tom Selleck as General Lane

ok... i could see good with this... as a first villain, then have branic at the end of the movie, searching for the mother box for darksied, put a kryptonite shield around the city like in birthright as he finds that superman is kryptonian and the kryptonians had the mother box, so he tries to kill superman to get the mother box, have superman find a way to defeat branic and trap him in kryptoinan tech as branic doesn't understand it and therefor can not get out of it... tease darksied... end

epic win! :)

Metallo...interesting. Also would like to see planet Krypton reimagined again in all its CGI glory before its imposing doom. Why not reimagine Superman even more glorius than he has ever been? Lets hope so.

If true this is simply an extension of Smallville. The VRA or vigilante registration act. They also did the same plot line on Lois and Clark.Come on guys give us something new and a better villain than a lame Terminator wannabe like Metallo.
