"I was so glad that Andrew Garfield got it. Just because he's an awesome actor. I mean as long as they give it to someone who is, you know, worthy of having that opportunity it always works out well. And I'm always happy to see when good actors get good parts."

With an all star cast that includes Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben and Sally Field as Aunt May, The Amazing Spider-Man is set to be released in 3D on July 3, 2012!

Andrew Garfield was the most obvious choice. He just screams Peter Parker everytime I see a picture of him.

This kid is an awesome actor but Garfield was the better choice.

@ rbtn04: she is a scientist as in the way that Peter was a scientist when he was younger. Just science enthusiast.

Which is very true to the source material.

People are just blowing it out of proportion.

It's too risky casting someone who looks too much like a teenager. You always run the risk that they will not mature in time for future sequels. It is easier to make a young man look like a teenager than to make a teenager look like a man. Garfield was a good choice.

rbfn04@ Dude she is a scientist!;)

"Gwendolyn Stacy went to Standard High School during her teenage years. She was known as the "beauty queen" in high school with her bountiful looks. After high school, Gwen enrolled in Empire State University where she majored in biochemistry."

I previously wanted Lerman to get the role, but now I'm glad Garfield got it instead, he was the better choice!

@IronAngel naww don't be mean to Grif, he may look like a blood thirsty beast in his pic but I bet he's a cuddly little teddy bear in real life, and he does post some wonderfully original videos!

Just ONCE . . . I would love to see an actor tell the truth about how they really feel concerning another actor getting the role they were associated with.

Hollywood isn't THAT honorable. Come ON!

Garfield was deff the best choice for this roll, even better then tobey. but out of all the other choices lerman would have been best runner up. hes not an amazing actor yet but the kid deff has potential to impress people in the future.

For some reason I hope that the movie fails as a big box-office flop....only then will they realize the shitty changes and decisions they made....but BTW I have nothing against Andrew Garfield, I think he is a great actor and I wanted to see more of him since The Social Network.

@rbfn04: Apparenlty you've never read a single comic with Gwen in it. It generally helps to know what your talking about before you complain.

Just to clear this up, Peter meets Gwen in college, since they're both science majors.

rbfn04@ Emma Stone referred to herself as being a scientist in an interview, which technically isn't correct, so I have to wonder how well she is connected to her role then, but it is what it is. Could have been a brain fart.

Kiekan@ There are plenty of science majors out there. That doesn't make them a scientist, especially when you are still in high school and not even in college yet ;-)

@ Darkmatter I think 2012 is going to be the best year for comicbook movies hands down. But this year is still going to rock except for First Class.

@kiekan a laboratory having scientist? No, don't remember that. College is one thing, a lab having scientist is another... Dirt-bike riding Spider-Mas is gonna fail so hard...

Seems like a decent guy. It was cool of him to be a good sport about it. Personally, he looks more like Peter than Andrew does to me, but I can't really compare them acting wise. What's done is done. I hope Lerman does well in his career and I hope Garfielf delivers us a great Peter Parker.

Andrew Garfield looks just like Peter Parker, especially from Civil War
bilthebullet
bilthebullet - 4/6/2011, 8:22 PM
I think Lerman could have been a decent Spiderman. I like how he actually looks like he is in high school. He was crap in Percy Jackson and Gamer, but I think that comes down to director. Chris Columbus likes things to be cute and is willing to sacrifice performance, and Neveldine/Taylor just love for things to look cool and actiony. If you look at 3:10 to Yuma he gives a great performance because Mangold (3:10 to Yuma/Walk the Line/Copland) is all about character development. Webb is such a good director and his films are so character driven, he would have gotten a great performance out of him. I'm still cool with Garfield though.
Gabe
Gabe - 4/6/2011, 9:04 PM
He gave a great performance in 3:10, but I can't say the same for his other movies. Not to mention he doesn't rub me off right for some reason. Maybe I need to give him another chance.
