The Planet of the Apes franchise gets the origin treatment in this 20th Century Fox production from director Rupert Wyatt. The script, written by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, concerns a group of American scientists whose genetic experiments lead to an uprising by a race of intelligent apes that they helped create. James Franco stars, with Freida Pinto and John Lithgow heading up the rest of the cast.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Tom Felton, Tyler Labine, and Brian Cox, and is set to be released later this Summer!

Rise of the Apes would have been perfect..
The title really makes no sense..How does a planet rise?

Jesus. Obviously those who think the title needs to change are not familiar the original FIVE other films. The title is fine.

@KilledHal9000 Why does that mean we aren't familiar with the other films? The title literally makes no sense.. Yes the other one actually took place on a planet ruled by apes, so the title Planet of the Apes made sense. Planets don't rise they go in very slow spirals towards suns, it's a fact.
Also, in the book the title was a reference to a completely separate planet that was ran by apes, not by humans. When he returns to Earth in the future, he finds out it is also ran by apes, much like in the Burton movie.

Planets don't travel "towards" the sun, if they did they would fall in and burn up, they move sideways too.
Great trailer.

patriautism - 6/22/2011, 3:31 AM
@MarvelousMarty Actually yes they do, and we will eventually burn up one day because of it, just in a very very long time.It is called curved space-time, look it up. The Suns density is so great that it cause a massive curve in space time, which formed all of the planetary bodies and is causing them to slowly spiral inward. Much like a penny you drop in those spirally things in malls.
MarvelousMarty
MarvelousMarty - 6/22/2011, 3:36 AM
@patriautism:
A) I dont know what a "mall" is.

B) The earth spins round the sun because the sun wants the earth's cheese, but the earth likes cheese and so constantly fights the sun, hence you have a galactic tug of war for the eaths cheese. You look it up.

@MarvelousMarty That sounds like a pretty good basis for a new religion.

@patriautism - You need to learn English, the title is fine. "Rise" in the context of how it's being used in the title is referring to "emergence" rather than literal "elevation" the way you're limiting it.

@Patriautism - Cheesus Christ the saviour?
patriautism
patriautism - 6/22/2011, 3:47 AM
@Ceejay You might need to learn English..Yes the apes are emerging, the apes are rising, but the planet itself isn't emerging, nor is it rising in any definition of the word, as the title suggests. They would get marked off for that title in an English class. It's all in the wording.

Simply preposterous, that is what this "film" is. I do not understand why Fox decided to go with a "realistic" route on the storyline. There are less than 500,000 apes of various species left on the planet today. There are nearly 7 billion people. There is simply no way they will even remotely phase mankind in a war.
