Talking at 'The Television Critics Association', ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee offered an update on the status on the small screen adaptations of Marvel comic book characters, Jessica Jones and the Hulk. Thanks to The Wrap for the following excerpt. I'll be sure to update the article with further information about the upcoming series' if and when it becomes available.

ABC is redeveloping the Marc Cherry pilot "Hallelujiah" and is working on the Marvel Comics-inspired shows "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" and "The Hulk" with an eye toward next pilot season, ABC entertainment president Paul Lee said Sunday.

UPDATE: Thanks to a heads up from CBM's own RorMachine, here are a few quotes from Lee, posted over at IGN TV. Be sure to head on over to that site by clicking the link to hear even more from him.

"We're extremely excited by having Marvel in the fold. We've developing aggressively both AKA Jessica Jones (based on the Brian Michael Bendis comic book series, Alias) and The Hulk. Hopefully we'll have two very good choices to look at around the pilot season next year. Family entertainment, Hulk is a classic example of it. You remember No Ordinary Family wasn't our best moment and yet it was the highest co-viewing show of the year. So I absolutely think there's room. I think Charlie's Angels is an example of it. I think Last Man Standing is an example of It, for great family entertainment. And that's a sort of wider band around our central target."

I'm way excited about marvel TV shows, but Hulk makes me very nervous.... plus, he's quite a bit more fit for the big screen

So does that mean the pilot of the hulk comes out before or after The Avengers?

Could get confusing!

I've said before and I'll say it again, the Hulk tv show is a bad idea.

If any of you have read the synopsis, it's basically Teen wolf, but the guy turns into hulk instead of growing fangs and sideburns

Well say what you will about Smallville, it did last 10 years, DC are good at milestones....this I doubt will get off the ground, Hulk is finding it hard on the big screen, what makes the smaller one any better?

@SigmaCenturion
Think Dexter, without the serial killing. And in place of Rita, there's Luke Cage.

A CGI Hulk is easy, this isn't 1985! There are TV shows that deliver tons of CGI in every episode simply because as a tool its become damn easy to produce low cost FX. Battlestar Galactica and Caprica had CGI robots fighting live action actors, Falling Skies does it in practically every episode. To do the Hulk isn't impractical, just a bit more expensive but with the potential profits form merchandise sales its easy to see why they'd ok the necessary budget!

Didn't any of you guys read Jessica Jones in 'ALIAS' when it was still under the MAX line from Marvel? They ruined it when they swallowed it into the 616 universe but it was one hell of a great and daring comic. First issue she had anal sex with Luke Cage Powerman!

@ STYGR8dotCOM, yes, family show, not kids show.Family entertainment is anything that doesn't feature objectionable material.Language, sex or graphic violence.

So yes, I would imagine it would be family entertainment, as I don't believe Hulk requires any language, sex or graphic violence.

I'd really like Ali Larter to be Jessica Jones! (: I think she's a great action actress, a really good actress in general and sizzles on screen.
