Thanks to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, we have the following excerpt and scan of The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan's "Thank You" message to the people of the city after the past few weeks have seen city streets closed down in action packed, intriguing filming of the highly anticipated movie.

Mr. Nolan is going out on a classy note with a full-page ad in today's Post-Gazette expressing, "Thank You Pittsburgh." The backdrop is the movie's eye-catching poster art with the shape of a bat in the middle of crumbling buildings.

The ad is signed: Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas & Charles Roven, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures. In addition to being the director and co-writer, Mr. Nolan is a producer along with Ms. Thomas and Mr. Roven.

That is a class move. These studios/directors/actors go into a city or town for filming and everything is strictly business. The streets are closed, areas are roped off and filming takes place because the studios have paid for it. There is really no need for a thank you such as this. It's nice to see that the thank you and appreciation is extended anyway.

I agree with the comment "For what He should be the one thanked, He put that little town on the map." This production probably brought a fair share of jobs to the filmmaking community in Pittsburgh.

However, it must have been one hell of an inconvenience to the small business and truck drivers within the city.
