Location And Brief Filming Details For The Dark Knight Rises' New Batcave Revealed!

Welsh actor Christian Bale has returned home, as it has been revealed that the exterior of the Batcave has been shot in Wales, for what will reportedly be a key scene in the highly anticipated movie...

WalesOnline (and the Wales On Sunday newspaper) report that The Dark Knight Rises has found its Batcave in the Brecon Beacons in Wales. A waterfall will reportedly double for the exterior of the cave, with filming already having taken place a few weeks ago. According to the site, "The 90ft waterfall near the village of Coelbren is the highest in the park and a tourist favourite because of a path that takes intrepid walkers behind the waterfall."

One local, named in the report as an "insider", who spotted the movie being filmed added: "They were there for a couple of days just a few weeks ago. I understand it’s going to be used in the opening sequence of the film, as Batman discovers the Batcave. But we’ll have to wait and see."

Samantha Games, of the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, said the region is popular with filmmakers because of its unspoilt views and easy access.

"We work hard to help filmmakers find the perfect location, whether it is on our land or land owned by other authorities like the National Trust. I think it’s becoming more and more popular as word gets around and, with its huge vistas, lack of things like electricity pylons and the professionalism of local contractors it is a perfect location."

"We have always got someone filming here, whether its for adverts, TV shows or big-budget films like Clash of the Titans. Something like that just generates such a boost for the Welsh economy."

Didn't they allude to rebuilding the Wayne Manor and making improvements to the Bat cave at the end of TDK. Why another new Bat cave Location?

The "discovers the cave" quote came from a local who probably doesn't know what exactly he's talking about. I'm sure it's supposed to be an opening of the cave discovered in the first film.

If I answered my own question then why not use the same waterfall location the he jumped through in the Bat mobile with Rachel in it? Again why a new location?

He found the cave in BB by falling through a hole in the ground, not by walking through a waterfall.
Maybe Nolan is Welsh and wants to give back to his community, I don't friggen know.

@thalidomide- you make a good point, maybe he hasn't rebuilt the Wayne Manor yet or maybe he found a better cave and built his new house over/near that cave. Could be temporary, but that seems weird.

@eyesore well for all we know this could be one of his many Batcaves, if Nolan decides to do that.

I agree with THEDARKKNIGHT1939, anything is better than that TDK white room bat-bunker thing; I always imagined it to look sort of like a high tech train station though... not sure if that makes any sense... but yh...

It's the same bat cave under Wayne Manor. Probably a new discovered side of the cave, where Batman will use to fly his batplan/jet out from.
GLprime2814
GLprime2814 - 8/28/2011, 10:12 AM
I was hoping for a new bat cave like a fully stoked bat cave not a bunker from TDK and not a hole in the wall with a laptop from BB.
