Clark Gregg Seemingly Confirms Return Of 'Agent Coulson' In Iron Man 3!

Responding to a fans request that Joss Whedon doesn't kill off the popular Agent Coulson in The Avengers, Clark Gregg may have quite possible confirmed that he'll be back for the third installment in the Iron Man franchise...

Ok, it's best not to get too excited about this just yet. When questioned about his future in the upcoming Marvel Studios movies, Clark Gregg (who has acheived near cult status with fans after his portrayal of S.H.I.E.L.D Agent Coulson in 2008's Iron Man) has remained pretty tight lipped, but the following Tweet may mean Joss Whedon won't have to worry about an angry mob coming after him should he decide to kill off Coulson in The Avengers.

This is of course a bit of a tease by the actor, and is in no way solid confirmation that he'll be back. Of course, that doesn't mean we can't look on the bright side and hope that this is indeed a good indication that we'll see Coulson up on the big screen for a long time to come!

STARRING:

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Ramanoff/Black Widow
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

RELEASE DATE: May 4th, 2012. (US)

I think he said a while back that he wasn't sure if he'd be back, but would know in a few weeks. I'd say it's been a few weeks. ;P
Hope he's back though, he's one of the best things in the MCU.

The dude got himself a sweet gig over at Marvel…if he plays his card right (so far he is), his Agent Coulson character could live on the big screen for years to come

I wonder if Clark ever imagined that he'd be the glue to the whole MCU.

I really like Coulson. I hope Marvel decide to put his character into the comics - like when DC put Harley Quinn into their comicbook storylines.

Clark Gregg is one awesome dude for answering my tweets. Gotta love an actor who engages with the fans on a daily basis. I've totally stopped worrying that Coulson is gonna be Whed-whacked in the Avengers. He's too cool to die!

well he is a cool character. usually when they make up new characters for films that were not in the source material it fails. but coulson has been a nice success, i think because they didn't over-do him or over expose him. we only see him here and there, for a little bit at a time and then he's gone. yet he manages to seem important to the story. they struck a nice balance with coulson, so i think that's a big reason why fans of the comics haven't turned on him and ravaged him
