X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

I wasn't looking forward to First Class, but I was quite surprised by it when I saw it in the theater.

I know the director said First Class was a reboot, but it really wasn't.. When you throw Hugh Jackman in there, and Rebbecca in there as cameos. Obviously you are making a prequel.
ROMACK
ROMACK - 9/6/2011, 3:37 PM
That was funny and yet incredibly accurate. I am betting he could have thrown a few other inconsistencies though.
BlairCo
BlairCo - 9/6/2011, 3:37 PM
It was a reboot. That video was really a waste of work for the creators.
capcyclopsftw
capcyclopsftw - 9/6/2011, 3:39 PM
hahaha that was funny! BUT you know Josh, there will be some butt hurt bitches that come on here and defend some of this stupid ass crap!

btw, I actually enjoyed First Class as a Reboot, but it better not be a [frick]ing prequel, as this video is a perfect argument for it not to be.
ForceOfLegend
ForceOfLegend - 9/6/2011, 3:40 PM
Not really reboot. If so how come Mystique looked exactly the same with her makeup? It was more like what Superman Returns was. In a vague continuity.
jackdawak
jackdawak - 9/6/2011, 3:41 PM
i guess u can say its a reboot with all the likenesses of the sequel characters....an alternate/parallel universe...boom

Anyone who complains about Hank looking human in X2 must have never read too many of the X-Men comics..

Seems to explain it right there in the source, doesn't it?
ForceOfLegend
ForceOfLegend - 9/6/2011, 3:42 PM
@marvel72 agreed! the director can say all he wants. It was a prequel.
LucasMend
LucasMend - 9/6/2011, 3:45 PM
haha pretty funny, even though that Matthew and Bryan themselves said that is not a reboot, we should still take it as a reboot.
nice find dude
ROMACK
ROMACK - 9/6/2011, 3:46 PM
As a reboot it was awesome. If it wasn't then the X-Men cinematic continuity is just as jacked up as the X-Men Comic book continuity.=P
capcyclopsftw
capcyclopsftw - 9/6/2011, 3:46 PM
pautriautism - do you really think fox knows about the image inducer? [frick] no. it's there in the source, yes, but if that's the explanation, pretty god damn someone from FOX would have came out and said it.
OptimusBurgundyMaximus
OptimusBurgundyMaximus - 9/6/2011, 3:47 PM
it was a prequel terrible continuity

pretty much took a giant Dump on the source material

First Ass more like it

Basically they shouldve changed it to X men Origins:Magneto

or Magneto + a random bunch of shit second rate x men you wont care about !
ForceOfLegend
ForceOfLegend - 9/6/2011, 3:47 PM
Well by calling it a reboot we are washing away the bad taste that Wolverine, and Last Stand left. Which could help ease everyone's suffering.

@BlairCo

its a fricking prequel

@Lucaxmen

did you guys not follow the news on this movie before it came out? They never said it was a reboot or a prequel for sure.

They kept playing the back and forth game. First its a reboot, now its a prequel, then its a reboot, then its a prequel again. They NEVER gave a clear answer.

And there were plenty of things in the movie that would leave one to believe that it was a prequel.

The bottom line is they made a movie and tried kept what they wanted, while changing other shit. They did this, and they knew they were doing it.

I can't believe so many people are willing to overlook all the continuity problems. thats like the number one important thing when it comes to writing a story, is making sure it doesn't contradict itself.

Yeah, it was great if ignore all the other x-films. but how can you when there are obvious nods to the other films?

terrible writing, plain and simple.

and the funny thing, is most people fell for it.
ForceOfLegend
ForceOfLegend - 9/6/2011, 3:49 PM
While First Class wasn't what I would call CBM of the year. It was still enjoyable, and better than the last two X-men films.
ForceOfLegend
ForceOfLegend - 9/6/2011, 3:51 PM
Well one thing we can all agree on is Fox needs to drop the rights to this franchise, and let Marvel take control again.
OrganizedChaos
OrganizedChaos - 9/6/2011, 3:52 PM
continuity doesn't exist to Fox Studios
capcyclopsftw
capcyclopsftw - 9/6/2011, 3:52 PM
Well, just because a certain actor is in this movie doesn't automatically make it a prequel.

Look at Casino Royale for that example. Judi Damn Dench.

CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/6/2011, 3:52 PM
@ patriautism

The image inducer argument doesn't work, man. They never showed anything like that being used in any of the movies. You can't just assume thats what it is because it was used in the comics. they didn't follow anything else from the comics, so how can you just assume thats what it is?

if it wasn't shown in the movies, then it isn't an explanation.
HeyVanity
HeyVanity - 9/6/2011, 3:52 PM
It makes me giggle when people say this movie was a reboot. The marketing approach alone is proof enough that it isn't. It's nothing more than a painfully flawed prequel.

Couldn't care less about singers X-Men, IMO he did a shoddy job of them and they haven't aged well at all. X-Men: First Class was awesome and without a doubt the best of the bunch!
patriautism
patriautism - 9/6/2011, 3:55 PM
It was just a brief appearance in X2 there can be many different reasons explained to why he appeared human in X2.. From the image inducer, to Xavier controlling the public's minds into thinking he looked that way.. You can't just assume they didn't know about it and hate on them for your assumption..
Also with the Origins Wolverine continuity issues, First Class fixed something Origins messed up big time.. In fact I am okay with just ignoring that Origins even exists as a movie. Seriously would you like the Deadpool movie to be based off the Deadpool from Origins? I sure don't...
jackdawak
jackdawak - 9/6/2011, 3:55 PM
if u ppl wont take it as a reboot with cosmetic similarities then go cry about it....i dont consider Origins as part of the X men trilogy canon so why should i consider this movie as well....it makes me feel better about the movies....Origins SUCKED so i toss it in the alternate X men universe box and First Class was great and it seemed to be written as a reboot but visually seemed like a prequel because of some character-visual similarities such as Mystique and Wolverine....take it as an alternate/parallel universe and eat it and be happy....GOD
capcyclopsftw
capcyclopsftw - 9/6/2011, 3:56 PM
CDB - Exactly!
ForceOfLegend

@capcyclopsftw True, however with Fox it is a whole different situation.

jazzman

X-Men First Class was only good cause of Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy performance
jackdawak
jackdawak - 9/6/2011, 4:01 PM
and nobody cares about the image inducer....its one of those things that happen off screen in which u have to assume is the reasoning for it otherwise ull be questioning everything from "how did this guy get there, by car? by plane?" nobody cares how ppl went from one place to another so u have to fill that gap of information with ur own imagination
