Jonathan Ross Reveals Potential Plans For Turf Adaptation; Matthew Vaughn To Be Involved?

Talking about the hardcover release of Turf, Jonathan Ross and Tommy Lee Edwards speculate on the chances of a big screen adaptation, revealing that they'd love to see it in the hands of Matthew Vaughn...

Comic Book Resources were on hand yesterday at Waterstones in London, where Jonathan Ross (best known in the UK for his television work) and artist Tommy Lee Edwards discussed the hardcover release of their creator owned comic book series, Turf. While there's already talk of a follow up, most interesting were the comments made by Ross in regards to a possible big screen adaptation. Here is an excerpt from the site's report.

Since Ross is married to screenwriter Jane Goldman, who penned both "Kick Ass" and "X-Men: First Class" for director Matthew Vaughn, questions inevitably turned to the prospect of a screen adaptation of "Turf." Although the collected release has renewed interest in the property, Ross said he and Edwards were biding their time and that while they want to do it with Vaughn, he probably wouldn't direct. Ross also said Goldman definitely wouldn't be writing the adaptation, jokilngy describing the idea as "unhealthy" for them both.

I've not yet had chance to read this series (I missed it when it first came out so have been waiting for the above release) but hear nothing but good things. An adaptation with Matthew Vaughn involved in any capacity would also surely be a fantastic decision. For more on Turf and its sequel, as well as the duo's next collaboration, a comic about retired superheroes called "The Golden Age," click on the link below to head on over to the site.

Just read the synopsis. Set in 1920's prohibition era, with gangsters as well as vampires and aliens. I hate to lump things in the same category, but that the period piece/genre mashup didnt exactly work with Cowboys and Aliens. Theyll have to be very careful.
