UPDATE: Batwing Takes Flight On The Set Of The Dark Knight Rises; Brief Scene Description!

Filming continued in Los Angeles last night, and while security was extremely tight, some footage of the Batwing once again taking flight (held up by wires this time) has found its way online...

Things are VERY secretive on the set of The Dark Knight Rises, but that hasn't stopped a few crafty fans from getting close enough for some juicy bits of footage and details! Here is a brief description of what some of the local SuperHeroHype Forums members saw last night, as well as some footage courtesy of "Sterling Davis Photo" below.

Just got home from the set. Great shoot once again, we got to see the Batwing operating and shooting out some stuff. Cool pyro stuff tonight, along with snowy sets and Batman getting his make up done right in front of us. Oh, and Chris Nolan walking out like a PIMP! [Polaris23]

Yeah I just got back (for real this time). I was there from 6 something to 1 AM when they wrapped and we got to see Nolan leaving. Polaris and I watched the takes with the mortar shots from the batwing about 6 times or so (which was loud from the bridge). We got to see Bale in the suit sitting in a chair getting makeup and then strutting majestically across the set. Much of the shoot was in the tunnel tonight and most of the pictures I got werent so great, not to mention security was tight as a drum. Still good to see some of the pyro shots, talked to the PAs a whole bunch and of course the batsuit is amazing. [RedSkull]

They wrapped around 1. I got there around 11 and it seemed like a pretty quiet shoot. We couldn't see much but after they finished about a hundred Gotham policeman came out from under the bridge. We even saw Batman leaving the set right before they wrapped. Perfect way to cap off this whole experience. [jonathanb]

Has anyone talked about or contemplated the idea that the Batwing could be a part of the Tumbler and come off the top, like the Batpod did from the front in TDK? ? ?

Otherwise...can't wait!
(still more excited for Avengers though :P)

@optimusprimetime - that's what i thought at first, but when you see some of the videos, the scale of the batwing is huge compared to the tumbler!!

I have been trying to convince myself of the same thing...but the way Nolan did it in TDK, with the panels shifting around TF style...I really could see him doing something similar here...

Just imagine a scene where Bane and his goons roll up in their desert camo tumblers and start raising hell...

Batman shows up and they rumble...somehow or another Bane escapes and Batman either can't catch him, or his tumbler is busted...

Next thing you know some panels shift around, some engines fire up and *BOOM* he is lifting off into the air

Sounds like Nolan's handywork to me

At least the security is tight in the other locations. Why Nolan didn't care much about security in PGH is beyond me. I trust this will turn out proper enough.

Idk I think the Batwing or whatever its called is going to be a bad addition. Its going to look too Syfy rather than the original "Make Batman realistic" idea.

@SaroM, I was thinking the same thing. Most, if not all of the scenes/photos I've seen so far take place during the day.
