Mickey Rourke Seemingly Accuses Iron Man 2 Director Jon Favreau Of Not Having Any Balls! Mickey Rourke Seemingly Accuses Iron Man 2 Director Jon Favreau Of Not Having Any Balls!

Once again bashing Marvel Studios for the end result of Iron Man 2, Mickey Rourke now blames his perceived failure of the movie on, "working for the wrong studio or let's say a director that doesn't have any balls"...

He's been pretty critical of Marvel Studios in recent interviews in regards how his portrayal of Whiplash was ultimately delivered in the final cut of Iron Man 2, but the actor has now seemingly decided to take a swipe at director Jon Favreau too! While he doesn't name names, it's not exactly difficult to read between the lines of what he had to say to MTV Splash Page recently. Anyone else getting sick of this guy? While I have no problem with people speaking their mind, what we did see of Rourke (edited or not) was far from amazing, and I can't help but think these remarks are a way of garnering more attention for Immortals!

"If they let you play the bad guy with other dimensions other than one dimensional. You have to fight for that though, to bring layers to the character. Otherwise, if you're working for the wrong studio or let's say a director that doesn't have any balls, then they're just gonna want it to be the evil bad guy."

"So, if you're working with some good studio guys that got brains and you're working with a director with a set of nuts that'll let you incorporate that then it's fun. Otherwise, you end up with what happened on 'Iron Man.'"

"Tarsem was great. He's really smart, innovative. He had little things that were all 'Oh wow.' And that's what it's all about to have somebody working with you that can kind of take your performance further than you maybe think you can or whatever. And he was so enthusiastic that it rubs off on the crew, it rubs off on the other actors. So it's a collaborative, supportive kind of thing, instead of a laborious technical twelve hours. You get through the day and you look forward to going to work the next day, sometimes."

C'mon, he was great in Iron Man 2. And while I don't necessarily agree with anyone bashing their director so openly, at the same time, how do we know he isn't speaking the truth? Either way, he has balls whether you agree with him or not.

Mickey, I thought you were great in Iron Man 2 and I can't wait to see Immortals Friday. The problem with Iron Man 2 was the lack of action. That Whiplash fight was like 2 minutes.

The whole movie had a very anti-climactic feel to it. Even the race track scene, which was awesome while it lasted, could've gone on for more than two minutes.
And the final fight with Whiplash was such a weak sauce ending. It lasted two seconds after an unnecessarily long fight with the drones.
And if Ivan Vanko really was a combination of Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo, why not AT LEAST paint his armor red/incorporate a star into his chest, instead of the COMPLETELY forgettable design they came up with.

This is such erroneous reporting. He didn't say that Jon Favreau lacked balls. He cited studio execs or nutless directors as being part of the reason why a villain can lack depth. Then came back to the Iron Man 2 point which up till now he laid squarely at the feet of Kevin Feige in all other interviews. It's not clear that he was suggesting that nutless directing had to do with Iron Man 2's failure. He just cited it as A reason why this shit happens. Irresponsible attention hungry headline.

No wonder he fell out of favor the first time in Hollywood. This guy's a tool. I don't give a shit if he travelled to Russia to get the accent, I could have watched old Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons and copied Borris Baddenov and done just as well.

you really can't knock the guy he was awesome in sin city, iron man 2, the wrestler, etc. he is a good actor. Maybe he is not happy with the Marvel Exe. its not like we all haven't bashed them. Honestly I think marvel jumped the gun with him. He would have made a awesome Crossbones for Capt. America.

Rourke always talks junk about everybody. I was just reading a story today that quoted him as saying that director Martin McDonagh, " is a jerk off" and "he should go play with himself". How can he be taken seriously after telling a grown man to go play with himself.

Again he just speaks his mind lol But fanboys will be all over his sack in 0.02 Seconds.....

The facts are these

Favreau was discontent with the film and no longer wants to do IM-3

RDJ has been open about how he feels with the film and was disappointed as well.

A lot of nit-picky fans bitched about the film being horrible.

Rourke is saying he didn't like it and is stating why the film was weak.

Now fans jump on his nuts because hes blunt with his emotion towards the film.

I was understanding what he was saying at first but now he is just being an asshole. Why the hate all of the sudden? Is he a sleeper cell for DC or something? Iron Man 2 was not bad but it could have been better. Mickey Rourke is a great actor but damn is he being a douchebag.

In America, you have the right to speak your mind, but you also have the freedom to keep your mouth shut.
I supported him when he first popped off- thought he had some good points MARVEL could learn from, but hey...too harsh Mickey.

When immortals is terrible, he'll be blaming that crew too. I don't doubt Rourke's intentions but having a pet bird is his idea of adding layers.

Opinions are one thing but we already know he thought the film was weak and he's upset that (what he thinks is) his best part of WHiplash got cut but draggin it on and talking smack about everyone else is just making him look like a whiney bitch who wants to blame everyone else. I'm sure other directors are seeing this and saying " I ain't working with this Primadonna asshole".

Look at it from his point of view as an actor and don't get all bent out of shape just because someone is talking a shot at a movie studio you happen to like. Maybe he was very proud of the work he did and was genuinely hurt to have most of it end up cut. Wouldn't that piss you off? Especially when everything he says is vindicated by the fact that the movie WAS a disappointment! Rourke has stared in plenty of flops that he never took shots at..he still says what a great experience he had on Get Carter despite the movie bombing massively. So it isn't his "thing", he obviously just says what's on his mind. If that comes back to bite him so be it, I really don't think he cares.

The dude's got a chip on his shoulder, obviously. But he's never been one to shut his yap just for PR. And as much as i love the Marvel films, i'm still siding with him. Studios should be there to tell you where the road should lead, not how it should be paved.
