RUMOR: New Details On Joseph Gordon-Levitt's TDKR Role And The Battle For Gotham!

As with any rumors surrounding a production such as The Dark Knight Rises, take the following details with a pinch of salt for the time being, but be warned that there are indeed potential SPOILERS AHEAD. For more, be sure to click on the link below to head on over to the original article at Cosmic Book News.

Blake is said to be a new police officer in Gotham City, drafted into the police force as part of a special task force with the sole purpose being to capture Batman. The initiation is a joint implementation between Mayor Garcia and a reluctant Commissioner Gordon.

At the start of the film, the Batman Squad are still on a mission to capture Batman, but when Bane and his mercenaries attack and take over the city, the police force becomes almost none existent.

Those early reports of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character working with the League of Shadows are false.

Blake is one of the more pro-active police officers who wants to fight Bane's mercenaries, but no police officer will stand up to them after Bane put Gordon in the hospital.

Batman's return, and also Matthew Modine's character, inspire the rest of the force to take back their city from Bane. This eventually starts with smaller attacks on Bane's forces before an all out battle at the film's climax takes place. Batman, with the help of Catwoman, are trying to stop Bane and a revealed Talia al Ghul from destroying the city and finishing her father's work of destroying Gotham.

So, what do you guys make of these details? I have to say, there's some very believable details here and some potentially very interesting hints at what we can expect from the highly anticipated final instalment in director Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. Sound off with your thoughts in the usual spot.

STARRING:

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman
Michael Caine as Alfred
Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox
Tom Hardy as Bane
Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake
Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate
Josh Pence as Ra's Al Ghul

RELEASE DATE: July 20th, 2012

Batman & Catwoman

vs

Bane and Talia Al Ghul

Hmm... hope this isn't way too many characters that basically ruins all comic book "part 3" trilogy movies.

If this stuff IS true, then it would be a great ending to the story. It would tie huge aspects from the ends of BB and TDK together. I absolutely DESPISE Bane and Catwoman's looks, but I could get past them if this is part of the actual story.

@Illwill: How is this history?

@Optimus83: I hate to say it, but you might me thinking into this just a little too much.

Bane's look is growing on me. That being said, part of me is in denial that we won't be seeing Nolan's Riddler any time soon.

I'm getting really pumped for this. I pray to god that this beats the trilogy curse. So far I like everything... so I'm very confident in this movie but I want some footage dammit !

@TheQuestion: Yes, he was in the comics. He was a kid who made all A's on his report card just before the Joker stole said report card so that the kid couldn't show it to his dad and his dad would think that he made all D's again. I'm absolutely serious. That was the ONLY mention of a John Blake in a Batman-related comic.

So the only real bit of info here is that Talia will be involved...
StrangerX
StrangerX - 11/10/2011, 11:48 AM
The only character's identity I have in question is Miranda Tate. I think she's secretly Talia. As for Blake he was introduced many yrs back, but I believe he's just a cop.
Greengo

was dick grayson ever a cop in the comic books? hmmmmm...
Dedpool
Dedpool - 11/10/2011, 11:57 AM
That actually sounds like a good premise, and it's actually pretty original in that a story along these lines hasn't been told exactly.

Still spectral about this third film. With the look of Bane and cat woman, Batman out in the day light. It has yet to sell me. Hopefully Cat woman looks better on screen and Bain takes the venom that Bulks him out.

I originally thought he'd be Riddler but I definitely think JGL is just a cop now. However Colliard is definitely Talia- I'd bet anything on it

@balegirlbrazil catwoman helping doesn't suck, sure she is best known as being a villan in the batman-verse but in a lot of stories shes an ally. Have you ever read Hush? She helps Batman and Supes take down Ivy.

TheBurnSays - 11/10/2011, 12:37 PM
I totally buy it. When they said the film was going to be epic, I knew it had to be that kind of story. The fall of Gotham without Batman, the reign of Bane, the secret resistance by John Blake and finally the return of batman and the rise of the city against its oppressor. Classic...epic! AndCottillard as Talia was obvious from the start...too bad the surprise is ruined...

This is probably all true. Man I wish the Talia thing hadn't already gotten out. I mean we all knew Marion was gonna be her from the get go but I wish it hadn't been confirmed. Is there any characters from the comics that anyone can think of as precedent for Modine's character? And what about the Roland Dagget rumors from a couple months back, does anyone have any theories of how that could fit in?
