Michael Shannon Teases Zod's Look In Man Of Steel; It's Not "Fu-Man Chu" Or An "SS Uniform"!

In a brief interview with GQ, the actor continues to tease the look of Zod in Man of Steel (it's not what we think apparently) and talks about training and whether he talked superhero movies with TDKR star Joseph Gordon-Levitt...

All we know so far for definite is that Michael Shannon will indeed have more than just the one look in Man of Steel. One of those will be in some sort of Kryptonian garb, while the other will be enhanced by CGI. Whether that means we'll see General Zod sporting a look like that seen in the image above is unknown, but the actor has continued to tease what we will and WON'T see in the upcoming movie. Many thanks to @ManofSteel_2013 for the heads up.

On What We Will And More Than Likely Won't See Zod Wearing In Man of Steel:

It's funny, when I go to red carpets people have this mockup photo of what they think I'm going to look like in the movie. But the point is it's totally inaccurate! [On the mockups], I have a Fu-Man Chu and some kind of SS uniform. I just want to tell everybody out there, that's not the way it is.

On The Kind Of Training Zack Snyder Has Him Doing For The Role:

Henry works out like a fiend and is in very, very good shape. That trainer who did 300, Mark Twight, is [on set]. I go and see him from time to time just because I enjoy it but the fact is that it really doesn't matter for me. With Henry I think there's a picture of him recently without his shirt on, so he has to be super fit.

On Whether He And TDKR Star Joseph Gordon-Levitt Compared Comic Book Movies On The Set Of Premium Rush:

Not really. He's a really sweet guy but I'm hunting him most of the movie, chasing him around, so we didn't talk much. We did have a couple of scenes together, but most of the time he's always just out of my reach.

STARRING:

Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman
Amy Adams as Lois Lane
Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent
Diane Lane as Martha Kent
Michael Shannon as Zod

RELEASE DATE: June 14th, 2013.

Not sure I get the Joseph Gordon-Levitt question.

Zod's outfit should closely resemble Faora's too btw.

I.E. Black with a cape, etc.

1st, 2nd, and also 3rd?

Not sure if he'll have the "bulk" to go toe-to-toe with Cavill though.

@Jordanstine

@cjkalel

Still, you don't want to see a superhuman but skinny villain go toe-to-toe with the Man of Steel.

This isn't Batman vs Joker.

Even Luthor bulked up in the books against Supes.

I'm sure (or hope) that Michael Shannon at least bulked up some. I'd be slightly disappointed if they gave him the Shakespeare arm sleeves for his costume to hide his unbulked frame aka the original Zod from Superman II.

shannon is also like 6'4 compared to cavill's 6'1 so he wont need to bulk up too much to look intimidating

I never understood Zod and his powers.
Superman and Zod are both Kryptonians, yes?
Based on their genetic material, they should be just as powerful as the other... however...
Superman has lived his entire life on Earth, recieving daily exposure to our yellow sun, which is what gives Kryptonians their super powers.

Zod is twice Kal's age, but has lived Kal's life inside the Phantom Zone. Shouldn't Superman just be able to step on him and fry him with his heat vision for good measure?

Never mind Zod's military genius, going toe-to-toe with Superman just wouldn't work.

@pacman
Zod only made a couple of appearances in Superman comics before Richard Donner got ahold of him.

That's how he looked a year before the first movie was made.

Whatever kind of costume they make for Zod im sure he will look menacing as hell. After all the guy playing the role is Michael Shannon. He looks always menacing.

@BaneKill77: U do know that DC cried and cried and set the condition that if they were to do the crossover:
No one could beat supes and Bats.. :P..

pfffffttttt.. those crossover events are a joke..

AM always amused at how Fanboys can pit 2 characters from different comic industries and Universes against each other.. pointless..

@mpk1988 All of the Marvel v. DC stuff was determined by fan voting. DC didn't cry and cry or make any type of condition. Marvel won, too.

Do most films shoot the movie backwards? I heard that once before.
Tevii
Tevii - 11/15/2011, 9:04 AM
@samhell - true, Hulk gets stronger the angrier he gets, but Superman's strength would be sufficient to knock the Hulk out PRIOR to Hulk getting even more angry.
If Supes didnt give the finishing blow immediatley then Hulk may just get more pissed, but supes has the kind of power to finish it early.
Tevii
Tevii - 11/15/2011, 9:05 AM
@quietstorm -it has to do with availability of all the actors. But primarily the climax of a film is where all the moneyt goes. So its easiuer to balance a budget appropriately knowing you got the money shots out of the way already
Tevii
Tevii - 11/15/2011, 9:15 AM
For those that complain about Supes beating Hulk even though it was a vote....Storm also beat Wonder Woman and thats just BS. NO WAY IN HELL. But it was a vote so, whoever is more popular at the time wins
