I've reposted this article for THREE reasons - firstly, only about 5 of you saw this last time, lol, secondly because I'm working on a few new fan casts that are TV shows instead of movies and lastly because I have now added two new additions to the cast! (So keep an eye out in the next few days/weeks for New Warriors, Heroes for Hire and The Ultimates!)
The four founding members of the team were gathered together as a result of the Vision's (who was previously Iron Lad) plan for the reformation of the Avengers in the event the team disbanded. In the series, newspapers refer to the young heroes as "super-powered fanboys" and label them the "Young Avengers," a name the team members initially disliked but which stuck nonetheless.
The best part about The Young Avengers is that none of the costumes look so outlandish that they wouldnt work on the small screen. This would avoid any type of "Red-Blue-Blur" fiasco as seen in Smallville! As with any show based on a comic book, The Young Avengers would have to take certain liberties with some aspects of the character but I dont think that this would have to be anything major especially if Marvel owned the right to make this avoiding licensing issues etc.
Oh, and just so you all know I've tried to choose only television actors rather than A-List movie actors who would probably choose not to appear in a TV show! Anyway, on with the fan cast!!!
Michael Rosenbaum as Iron Lad (Nathaniel Richards)
As Iron Lad was only in the first 6 issue arc of Young Avengers (and was the reason that the team was formed) I think that this role would be great for more of an established actor like Rosenbaum. Whether they had him in one episode or longer (seceral episodes or even a season) I think he would be the perfect choice for Iron Lad. Also, there would be a chance for him to return in future as a villain as it was later revealed in the above mention arc that Iron Lad would in the future become Kang the Conquerer.
Thompson Young as Patriot (Eli Bradley)
With a previous role in Smallville as Cyborg I think that Young would be perfect for the Young Avengers leader, Patriot. Though his performance was a little stiff in Smallville (but he was playing a cyborg after all!) you only have to see him in season 8 of Scrubs to see a completely different side to the actor.
Jake Abel as Wiccan (William "Billy" Kaplan) and Speed (Thomas "Tommy" Shepherd)
Marshall Allman as Hulkling (Theodore "Teddy" Altman)
A great actor who displayed a varied range of acting skills when he played L.J Burrows in Prison Break. I chose him for this role as he looks the part of the non Hulked up Teddy but as I have already said he is a good enough actor that I think he fits the overall part perfectly.
Eliza Coupe as Stature (Cassandra "Cassie" Lang)
Although I have only ever seen her act in Scrubs, to me she straight away came across as being an actress capable of any sort of role. I think she would be perfect for Cassie as she could easily play a strong female lead character while also having the skill to portay the vulnerabilities and insecurity of a girl who is trying to live up to being a hero like her father was before her (Scott Lang was Ant Man).
Sandra McCoy as Hawkeye (Kate Bishop)
This is another actress who I have only seen in asmall part, this time as the 'Cross Roads Demon' in season 3 of Supernatural. Despite this I remember thinking at the time that she was a pretty good actress (as well as being pretty damn hot) and so when thinking who would be a good choice for the female Hawkeye, I decided that McCoy would be a good choice as like Coupe she would be great at portraying a strong female lead role out of a team mainly made up of men.
CGI voiced by Michael Rosenbaum as Vision (aka Jonas)
Vision is a fusion of the old Vision's operating systems and the armor of adventurer Iron Lad. This could mean that the character could eithe be CGI or some sort of costume enhanced by CGI but voiced by original Iron Lad, played by Michael Rosenbaum.
Terry Crews as Isaiah Bradley (The Black Captain America)
Despite the fact that in the comic books, Bradley now suffers from sever mental deterioration due to unstable nature of the procedures he had undergone to become Cap in WWII, this could easily be altered for the character to become a mentor of sorts to the young superhero team. Crews is a great actor and I think he would be perfect for this sort of role.
Sarah Clarke as Kat Farrell
Perhaps best known for her role as Nina Myers in '24' she is an incredibly talented actress who I think would be great as the reporter who is in charge of the The Pulse, the section of the Daily Bugle which focuses on superheroes. She would bring an interesting dynamic to the show as the reporter that follows the young heroes adventures and would give them someone to save every now and then!
Michael C. Hall as Kang the Conqueror
The hero Iron Lad is revealed to be an adolescent version of Kang so I think that it would be interesting to have Kang feature in the show in a similar style to Lionel Luthor in Smallville (but as a full on villain) Michael C. Hall is a great actor and I think that he'd make a great villain so he would be my choice to play a TV version of Kang!
Anyway, thats it! Let me know what you think..!
