Netflix Boss Offers IRON FIST Casting Update; Mike Colter Teases Meeting With LUKE CAGE

While Iron Fist may have recently scored a showrunner, we've all been left wondering when exactly we're finally going to get some casting news. Well, an update on that has now been provided along with comments from Mike Colter about his excitement to team-up with Danny Rand...

Despite some troubling rumours that Marvel and Netflix were planning on scrapping Iron Fist, it became clear that wasn't the case late last year when they announced that Scott Buck would serve as showrunner. Talking to reporters after their panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour earlier today, Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos offered an update by promising that casting the character is, "in progress." This is yet another good sign, and an indication perhaps that we'll hear something official soon. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage star Mike Colter meanwhile was also quick to express his excitement about finally meeting his fellow Hero for Hire in an interview with IGN. "I am, for the main reason that I get a nice little break because I'm like, 'Jessica, Luke -- there is an Iron Fist, right?'" I'm really excited about it. Whether I'll be in it, I don't know, but it will be nice to see." Will Iron Fist be cast in time to appear in Luke Cage? We'll have to wait and see...

I'm just hoping by Iron Fist we'll have some serious connections between Netflix and the movies. K'un-Lun is a pretty big deal, it's essentially a chinese Asgard that's on earth, so it shouldn't really be treated lightly, even though it's much more "shush shush" even in the comic world, K'un-Lun is the equivalent of Wakanda. It's a big ass, advance, yet ancient city where a guy in green pajamas rips dragons' heart out of their chest, there BETTER BE A DAMN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. That type of shit just doesn't go under the radar.

Dan Stevens must play Eddie Brock one day, not Iron fist.

See, that always confused me, K'un-Lun looks as though it's from earth, they sort of imply there's a link between earth despite the 10 year cycle as you pointed out, but I always counted it as a part of earth. Now that I think of it, that's probably why there's next to no comics involving K'un-Lun. hmm, I also mainly have the older stuff for Iron fist, but I heard Immortal Iron fist was great, maybe they clarify it to greater lengths in that arc, but it's genuinely confusing to me. But now that we're on it, do you think they'll keep the "portal" bit, or make it permanently on earth in the show. Or do you know any specific stories involving K'un-Lun that you could recommend, because I'm genuinely bothered now, I usually don't question the logic of it.

okay, sweet, I should probably pick up that run, I heard a lot of good things. But I googled it, I thought I was crazy, but I might be partially mixing up the K'un-Lun mountains. But at the same time I know his origin, and I know about the whole ancient alien bit, and you have to go through the mountains to enter K'un-Lun, I'm getting something mixed up but I don't know what. I'm half tempted to buy some old school Iron fist stuff to brush up on it again(lot of my reading of him is derived from my childhood, but I read practically everyone), but alas I'm poor, I think I'd rather just get Immortal Iron fist. But they better insert some flashbacks, oh, and there's something about that synopsis that is promising. Just, it's a simple synopsis, but I really think the show is going to be special.

I'm not a guy who focuses on action as a concept in superhero related entertainment(despite that being sort of the goal with superheroes initially, cool ways for them to beat up bad guys and save the day), but here's to hoping that the fight sequences are off the chain in the show. I wonder if they'll show his fiery fist in the show. Now that would be quite the site, I mean, I like Iron fist, but he has so much onscreen potential.

While actors like Dan Stevens would make a great traditional Iron Fist. Marvel doesn't have any lead asian actors. Dare Devil gave us a glimpse of some great asian villain but I personally would like to see some asian heroes in the mix. There are plenty of caucasian heroes running around and no Im not trying to be politically correct but we've already seen the struggling caucasian hero. We have yet to see asian culture in NY Marvel Universe. It would be really great to dive into asian culture and mythology with an asian Iron Fist to give us a taste of the asian underworlds in NY and what it like to be asian in NY. In Marvel NY.
