Casting For Young Han Solo Underway? Oh, And Ewan McGregor STILL Hasn't Been Asked Back...
Despite rumours to the contrary, Ewan McGregor reiterates the fact that he has yet to receive a call from J.J. Abrams asking him to return as 'Obi Wan Kenobi' in Star Wars Episode VII. Meanwhile, another report states that casting for a young Han Solo is already underway! Check it out.
According to Bleeding Cool (who have been hit and miss when it comes to information like this), casting may already be underway for a young Han Solo. This would presumably be for the planned spin-off movie featuring either him or Boba Fett which is expected to be released in 2016 between Star Wars Episode VII and Episode VIII. They report that, "casting for a young Han Solo has been happening for a few months now, alongside the casting for Episode VII. A basic description of the character – about as useful as "Han Solo, but young" – was created, agencies listed the role as a situation vacant and actors started to get in line." That's all we have to go on for now, but it certainly seems like a likely enough possibility all things considered. However, one character who may not have any sort of future in the Star Wars franchise moving forward is Obi Wan Kenobi. Despite rumours and speculation to the contrary, Ewan McGregor has once again pointed out that he has yet to be contacted about any sort of role in the J.J. Abrams helmed movie.
