Natalie Dormer Talks GAME OF THRONES & Potential Superhero Roles

Fans have been clamouring for Natalie Dormer to play a superhero for a while now, and she's many CBMer's pick for the planned Captain Marvel movie -- but what does she think about all of the attention?

Though Natalie Dormer did appear briefly in Captain America: The First Avenger, since she's become more prominent thanks to her role as Margery Tyrell in HBO's Game Of Thrones, many fans think she'd be well suited to gearing up for an actual superhero part in a future Marvel or DC movie. In an interview with Collider, Dormer mainly discusses playing Cressida in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, but Frosty squeezes in his usual comic book movie related question. When he asks if she's heard the online chatter and whether a big superhero role is something she's be interested in, Dormer takes a different approach than many actors do when asked similar questions, and decides to say very little!


"I'm not going to comment about potential jobs in the future because that’s a rabbit hole to go down and get caught up in, but all Ill say is I’ll go where the good scripts are. For me, Catching Fire, Game of Thrones, all my other work, I’ll just go where the good scripts are. I love being part of huge mega blockbusters and a I love being a part of small independent films and small stage. I’m just looking at the material. I want to know the character and I want to know the text, and then the decision I make from there."


Could we take her refusal to comment to mean there are potential superhero roles being discussed? That's probably reading too much into it, but there's sure to be some good CBM scripts out there doing the rounds so it's definitely a possibility. Dormer also reveals that she's finished shooting her scenes for Game Of Thrones season 5. She days she hasn't read the books and reads only the parts of the scripts that relate to her character, so she's just as shocked by everything else that happens on the show as most of the fans are. Unless she becomes the Enchantress in the MCU (it'll explain why she was in The First Avenger), I think she'll appear in either a DC movie or a FOX movie.

Nataile Dormer was in Captain America The First Avenger, so I don't think she'll be Captain Marvel or Enchantress anyway.

I like her in GOT, I'd say she'd make a good villain like Enchantress with that smirk of hers, but to me no to Captain Marvel I don't want to watch that said smirk when I look at one of my favourite Marvel femalesuperhero.

But it doesn't matter, because she was already in Captain America, so she won't get a Marvel part, that's for sure.

Katheryn Winnick is still my number one choice for Ms. Marvel, when I first saw her in Vikings I thought she would make a good Valkyrie, but instantly said hell no, cause every sidecharacter is underused in the Thor movies (Warrior Three, Sif), so she should be Ms. marvel. She can fight. She can act. She looks the part. She has a leading presence. She's a badass. That is what we need.

I like her answer to the question. Her talking about the "rabbit hole" could very well mean she's in talks and the studio wants her not to talk about it. Or she could just be aware that actor's who publicly campaign for roles don't tend to get them.

Again people; her role in Captain America: TFA is so minor that pretty much nobody besides over-analytical pop culture geeks like us will even notice. Plus, like @WYLEEJAY said, CA: TFA and Captain Marvel are going to take place 7 decades apart from each other anyway. Her being in TFA is really a complete non-issue, if anything it adds to the speculation of her MCU role because she already had somewhat of a relationship with them.

Oh yeah, forgot she was in CA:TFA. Didn't people think she was going to play Madame Hydra or something? Wouldn't mind seeing her as Cap.Marvel or in a DC film - maybe as a WW villain of some sort.
