Amybeth Hargreaves Will Play A Female Stormtrooper In STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS
BBC journalist Lizo Mzimba has posted a few interesting Star Wars: The Force Awakens titbits in the past, and his latest Tweet reveals that the J.J. Abrams directed movie will feature at least one female Stormtrooper in the form of 30-year-old British actress, Amybeth Hargreaves. Click on for more...
Let nobody say J.J. Abrams isn't one for diversity! Star Wars: The Force Awakens will give us John Boyega as the first black member of the Imperial Forces, and it looks like it'll give us our first female 'Trooper too. BBC's Lizo Mzimba has uncovered a very interesting cast addition from Spotlight UK, where relatively unknown British actress/model Amybeth Hargreaves is listed as a Stormtrooper.
Now obviously without more details, we can't be sure in what capacity she will show up in the film -- but it's unlikely Abrams and co. would cast a female Stormtrooper if they weren't planning on revealing that much to viewers by having her appear without her helmet on. But there is also the possibility that she's actually only a stunt double/stand-in for Gwendoline Christie's character, who is rumoured to be an Imperial of some kind and Finn's (John Boyega) commanding officer. Hargreaves does stand 6-feet tall so that would make sense, though hopefully that's not the case and we see a completely different female Stormtrooper in action when Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits this December.
