SUICIDE SQUAD: Apparently 'Antiphon' & His Onslaught Group Will Be The Main Villains

Task Force X went up against this super-powered team of Quraci terrorists numerous times in the DC comic books, and it looks like they'll be facing some live-action versions of Onslaught in David Ayer's Suicide Squad movie. No casting info. yet, but click on for what we do have...

According to Latino review scooper El Mayimbe, David Ayer's Suicide Squad will be taking on Onslaught and their leader, Antiphon. In the comics these guys were a team of supervillians made up of various terrorists from Qurac (a fictional Middle Eastern Country in the DC Comics universe), and Greek team member Antiphon was a fairly minor character with super-speed powers -- but it sounds like there might be a few changes made for the movie interpretations.

"Onslaught are hunting super heroes & villains for their own agenda," reports Mayimbe. "They're like a special ops team made up of mercenaries. Antiphon is a burn victim & has a prosthetic leg." He also reckons this was the role Ed Harris was rumored for, but has no information on who'll actually play the character yet.

Like Task Force X, there have been several incarnations of Onslaught over the years but Antiphon was a member of the most recent one, and his team-mates included: Digital Djinn, Hyve, Rustam (who was actually the leader) and Tolteca. Will those guys make up Onslaught in the movie? We may have more information on that tomorrow, so check back then.

Ed Harris is rumored for Flagg Sr. it was in the JoBlo scoop a month or so ago. Same one had Gary Sinise as General Sam Lane.

If this is true, $10 they'll change the country from Qurac to Khandaq for the future Shazam connection.

"Never heard of them but cool. I'm glad DC has already have world filled with heroes and villains. I wish the MCU already had a bunch of costumed heroes and villains wondering through the world."

The DC cinematic universe literally at the moment has one hero and one villain in a single movie, and the villain is dead. Yeah... :L

Even after Batman V Superman it will still pale in comparison to the amount of heroes and villains in the MCU.

Besides, Suicide Squad is a solo film not connected to the DC cinematic universe. They have all these characters going around in costumes, but nobody will actually care because unless the film gets a sequel or two then it'll mean jack in terms of the DC universe.

Not saying anything about the potential quality, but i think this movie isnt gonna be a blockbuster. Name will be a turnoff to those not familiar with the source material (which is pretty much everyone but hardcore CB fans) for one. Same lack of familiarity with the characters might cancel out the star power of the cast. Before you say "guardians", its apples and oranges in terms of tone. Talking tree and raccoon much more accesible to the masses than villains forced to do things or have their heads explode.

Again, not saying the movie is gonna be bad. Just questioning the mass appeal. We shall see.

@MexicanSuperman

You may be forgetting about the large number of Inhumans in the MCU. You can't discount the characters from AoS. Plus, we've been introduced to the Kree, the Sakaraans, and a few other alien races. The MCU has a lot of superpowered beings.

Ror deleted my comment too, but that's because I switched the topic halfway in from Suicide Squad to our time together in Paris last year (Paris, Ohio) and I guess he didn't want me making a scene.
