Olivia Wilde & Garrett Hedlund Officially Returning For TRON 3
Though the pair were rumored to be reprising their Tron: Legacy roles for a third movie in the sci-fi series, The Hollywood Reporter reckon the deal is done and both Garrett Hedlund (Pan) and Olivia Wilde (Cowboys & Aliens) will be returning for the Joseph Kosinski directed threequel.
Aside from some nice visuals and an excellent Daft Punk soundtrack Tron: Legacy was a bit of a mess -- but obviously Disney feels that it made enough coin to warrant a follow up, so whether we like it or not we'll be heading back to the Grid in 2016. THR report that in addition to returning director Joseph Kosinski, Garret Hedlund and Olivia Wilde will be reprising the roles of Sam Flynn (son of Jeff Bridges' programmer character from the first two movies) and Quorra, the computer algorithm he falls for. At the end of the last film the pair escaped the Grid and wound up in the real world so the story would presumably pick up there, though exact plot details are still under wraps.
We hear the movie will be called Tron: Ascension, but that's yet to be confirmed. Production is expected to commence this Fall in Vancouver for a release sometime next year.
