When DC's Convergence event finishes up, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo will launch a brand new Batman series... but it won't be Bruce Wayne in that much-maligned robotic suit. CBR has been sent a scanned page from the Divergence FCBD release, and it reveals that none other than a moustache-less Jim Gordon will be taking Wayne's place as Gotham City's new Caped Armoured Crusader. Plus, it seems he'll have the backing of the GCPD.


Bleeding Cool have added a few more details, and it seems Gordon is responding to the question "are you ready to be Batman?" This is a pretty big deal and is bound to stir up some controversy, but I think Snyder and Capullo have earned the benefit of the doubt with most fans. It does beg the question: if Gordon is Batman, what the heck happened to Bruce Wayne? I guess we'll have to wait until after Convergence to find out.

That's not even interesting. One of the Robins would have been interesting. Catwoman or Batwoman or a Batman villain would have been interesting.

His ears are based off of Appleseed ex machina, which is another Robocop type story.

This should be a good series and I hope in the future Karl Kerschi gets to do a real Batman comic. He has made the art in Gotham Academy really great and at times is even better then the main Batman comic series.
