Elizabeth Olsen Confirms She'll Return As 'Wanda Maximoff' For CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Joss Whedon and Elizabeth Olsen are currently speaking at a Meet The Filmmakers Q&A at the Apple Store in London, and the actress has just confirmed that her Avengers: Age Of Ultron character, Scarlet Witch, will indeed return for the third Captain America movie...

By MarkCassidy - Apr 22, 2015 12:04 PM EST

We've heard rumors about which MCU characters may or may not play a part in Captain America: Civil War, but aside from some of the obvious major players we haven't really had any other confirmations... until now. During the Meet The Filmmakers event at London's Apple Store, Elizabeth Olsen was asked if she will be reprising her Avengers: Age Of Ultron role of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch for the Marvel threequel and responded affirmatively, saying: "I guess I'm allowed to talk about that now". This has yet to be made official by Marvel, but after this it probably won't be too long until it is. Olsen didn't elaborate any further but did reveal that she begins shooting the movie in 2 weeks time in Atlanta.

Scarlet Witch was a highlight of Avengers: Age Of Ultron (you can check out my full review HERE) and without getting into spoiler territory, it does make sense that she'd be returning for more Earth's Mightiest Heroes related shenanigans.

I don't know how, or why, or in what way/shape/form it will take, but I can just sense that this news will rustle some jimmies for some reason.

Then again, this is CBM.com so I guess that's a pretty safe bet to make in ANY thread haha =P

Scarlet Witch is way too OP to fight in the Civil War, who can realistically stop her? My theory is QS is alive but in a coma and she just cameos by being near his bed side and they take the Johnny and Sue Storm roles.

In addition. It looks like Apocalypse and Civil War will start shooting around the same time. Hoult confirmed today that filming begins in 2 weeks.

Why not just call it Civil War? Doesnt really need to be Captain America 3 and then later down the line we can have a real Captain America 3 developing the story of the Winter Soldier. Worried they are going to just kill Captain America and then have Bucky replace him or avenge him...

Is Quicksilver confirmed for Civil War or is Marvel going to let the awful versions over at Fox and DC beat them to the screen AGAIN?

Awesome. The more we hear about it, the more I feel Spider-Man won't appear.

And in terms of it being an Avengers film, even if Captain America is the focus, i agree.

I mean, just look at the cast list so far;
Nick Fury
Maria Hill
Iron Man
Vision
War Machine
Scarlet Witch
Black Panther
Hawkeye
Black Widow
Captain America
Falcon
Ant-Man
Spider-man
The Winter Soldier
Crossbones
Baron Zemo
Baron Mordo
Doctor Strange

@Interestein

He'll appear, but he'll not be too important. Probably just shown as a high school kid or maybe shown in a newspaper article. He'll get more focus in his own film i guess.

You cant be beaten on the same thing twice... especially seeing as both have introduced Quicksilver now. As for whether he'll be back, i think no. Seems to be more emphasis on Scarlet Witch anyway

It doesn't really matter if all these extra characters are in it. They could only have a couple minutes of screen time. Or just be there for the final battle when Cap has to rally his allies.

@NightWatcher, agreed. She's fit nicely in the Strange movie. Preferentially naked.

"Strange and Antman haven't been mention"

Ant-Man has been mentioned in the previously rumored line-up of who would be on Stark's side. The same source also mention a Stephen Strange cameo, not sure if its before his accident

Yeah, I'm disappointed by her power set.

Hopefully Fox will use her Probability powers. Now that would be unique on screen.

@Scarillan:

Which is unfortunate because most comic book fans agree that DOFP Quicksilver didn't look or act a THING like the real version from the comics and the only company that cares enough to follow the comics more closely is Marvel Studios . Now a whole lot of general audiences won't know who the real Quicksilver is if they don't use him in Civil War or write him out of continuity just to appease the Fox/X-Men fanboys.

It's going to be a battle between QS-knockoff Barry Allen and DOFP Hipster Quicksilver and the studio that publishes the comics and has the REAL rights to the character won't be able to push their better version.

Just don't see how this doesn't end up being a massive mess. There's just too much to do and not enough set-up. You can tell it's being fast-tracked, hats off to the russos if they pull it off but I can't see it.

Well unlike DC, Marvel knows what they're doing, so you should be more concerned with those crapfest Justice League movies being a mess, not Civil War.

LOL no one even knows who Cyborg is and he AND six other JL members are going to be shoehorned into one three hour movie. DC's desperation is going to be the end of their ambitious universe.

EXCELLENT! Now we just got to hope that she will last throughout the rest of the Marvel CInematic Franchise and that the Scarecrow of Batman Arkham Knight is definately the real and really disfigured Jonathan Crane! Not to mention on the same day when spoilers from Age of Ultron have hit the sites.

What does any of that have to do with Civil War and how it's handled? I didn't even mention anything about what WB are doing with their movies.
