SPIDER-MAN Shortlist Revealed: Includes Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, & Timothee Chalamet
Earlier on we reported that Marvel and Sony had narrowed their search for a new Spider-Man down to 5 actors, and now we know who they are! The shortlist includes Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game), Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar), & Tom Holland (The Impossible)...
It seems Collider's Steve Weintraub was spot on when he reported that Marvel and Sony were close to settling on a new Spider-Man to replace Andrew Garfield in the MCU, and The Wrap has now revealed the names on the shortlist. According to them, Nat Wolff (The Fault In Our Stars), Asa Butterfield (Hugo, Ender's Game), Tom Holland (The Impossible), Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar) and Liam James (The Way Way Back) are all in the running to land the coveted role.
The site adds that none of these young actors have actually tested yet, but that they are "strong contenders who are definitely in the mix as of right now". It has also been confirmed that the plan is to introduce Spidey in Captain America: Civil War, and the role will have to be cast by June when the actor will be needed on set.
Apparently these aren't the only thesps in the running, so it may not necessarily be one of the above 5 that lands the role, but if it were, which one would you most like to see as the new Wall Crawler? Drew Goddard is still frontrunner to helm the solo Spidey flick, which is set to hit theaters July 28, 2017.
