Apparently Asa Butterfield Is Frontrunner For SPIDER-MAN Role; May Even Have It In The Web
We recently found out that Nat Wolff, Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalamet and Liam James were on the shortist for the covered role of Marvel's new Spider-Man, and now a new report reckons the Ender's Game actor might be in with a VERY good chance of nabbing it...
It could just be a matter of time before Marvel and Sony officially announce our new Spider-Man, because the latest report reckons Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game, Hugo) is not only the frontrunner, but might possibly have the role in the bag already. Latino Review's sources believe the 18-year-old actor is the favourite, with one of them pretty sure he's already been cast, claiming “Marvel had liked him since day one.”
When the shortlist was revealed, it was also confirmed that the plan is to introduce the character in Captain America: Civil War, which means they'll have to have the role cast pretty soon (the actor will be needed on set in June apparently) so Butterfield may very well be our new Wall Crawler!
Keep an eye on CBM for updates. Drew Goddard is still frontrunner to helm the solo Spidey flick, which is set to hit theaters July 28, 2017.
